Wow! An American heavyweight who used his money wisely!

After Bruce seldon lost to Tyson he recieved $5000000.he paid off his whole families debt, bought a house.with the remaining money he set it up with his bank that he would live off $30000/year for the rest of his life.he has fought on & off since his Tyson fight but never would ever make anywhere near a purse like that again.good for him...instead of being a dumby like most American heavyweights.

I have much respect for men that are not ostentatious. Simple life.

Not that I don't respect people that are ostentatious.

It's just that a simple, unpretentious life builds a kind of character. Old school kind of guys.

actually seldon also talked about how he went down vs Tyson.he never took a dive but was so overwhelmed by the occasion,he froze solid.he took the money & run for 8 years.he got laughed out of Atlantic city he had to move.much like bill buckner & mitch"wild thing"Williams.I agree with you about not living too highly even after getting 5 million.much respect to him for thinking of his families future...rid**** bowe bought a house with 17 rooms & a indoor bowling alley with his first big payday of 14 million....Tyson & Holyfield should be embarrassed.

Larry Holmes is doing pretty well for himself.

You could tell from Seldon's performance against Tyson that he had already made his financial plans and wanted to make sure he would enjoy them for awhile.
