Andre Ward Speaking about Victor Conte and Steroid Testing

Just as some generals thrown out there and not directed at anybody. 4 main ways to increase red blood cell count
1. Blood Doping
2. EPO
3. High Altitude Training
4. Hyperbaric Chamber
1, and 2 are banned because both are deemed that the athlete is taking an unnatural shortcut. 3 isn't banned, because you actually have to put in the work and *technically* assuming you had the means, anyone could train at high altitude.
4. Gets tricky. It simulates the air of high altitude except you aren't actually doing anything.
IIRC I remember reading something about Conte's new operation being in the business of hyperbaric machines.
Here's a really good documentary about steroids. Skip to about 1:20

I agree. Peds ftw. But I'm not gonna pretend that they don't do anything like that idiot Veteran.
If running at altitude did what epo does, then why take epo? Just run at altitude.
The whole point of them being peds is that they're enhancers. They're not fucking placebos, lol.
USA doesn't even come close.
I am sure it helps some in stamina but that's about it, and I see that beneift as a good thing.
We get entertaining fights for longer.

It also has other known biological functions. For example, erythropoietin plays an important role in the brain's response to neuronal injury.[1] EPO is also involved in the wound healing process

Hey any doctors reading this....forget about treating anemia stemming from chronic diseases with EPO. In fact your FDA should take EPO off the list of theraputic medicines and just tell those lazy slobs to do some hill climbs.Comment
