Well that's subjective since pac only received FOTD and p4p recognition because Floyd retired in the first place. So how can he behind somebody he beat legacy wise?(If he beat pac)

      If Mayweather defeats and retires

      =

Leonard retiring after Hagler, no more fighting, no Norris, no Macho

I am not saying Mayweather had a Leonard-like career, just that it would be a solid move, much like if Leonard had done that.

I mainly asked this question because I the hype is almost identical to Mayweather vs Gatti. A loved brawler with power vs the hated mayweather who slithers his way to victory. Gatti was supposed to be too strong, too tough, too much heart, and too much of a warrior for pbf. Then he got beat like a congo drum. Now he was overrated, a scrub, not in the same class. Gimme a break with the revisionist history. I can just see the same crap happening twice pac is too fast, too much heart, too much of a warrior , a southpaw...yadda...yadda...same story. If pbf wins I can see the haters laying the same crap on extra thick.

Right now Mayweather is at the height of popularity and has outsold the "hero of asia" and "FOTD" at every turn, even with Marquez and Mosley who have never been draws. He will never have the haters respect, legacy minimal, and can make good money on his own. So what does Floyd gain by beating Pacman? Is it really going to do anything for his legacy?

PS: Plz no trolling and flaming!
It will mean that he has finally fought a top guy in his prime.

            They wouldnt do that

Beating Pac would be a legit win against an ATG

People have been asking Floyd to fight Pac for like 2 years now. When people say he ''dodged'' (Tszyu, Cotto, Margarito) its because he went out and fought lesser opposition (or retired lol).

In this case, Pac is the n.1 guy

            EVERYONE knows that

              this been beat to death
winning head to head prove Floyd better head to head
Pac still have overall better career
              Pac trumped him anyway
he got FOTD for doing more in half of it than Floyd did the whole 10

Hater wise: I expect them to say he retired without facing Williams.

Even if he did beat Williams, they would say he never faced a prime Cotto/Margarito.

                  Haters will hate.

He will get $40 million added to his bank account. That is all. Mayweather will get criticized no matter what he does. If he beats Pac by first round KO, beats him in 12 rounds he will be criticized and excuses will be made. If he chooses not to fight him, he will be criticized. If he fights Martinez or Paul Williams, he will be criticized. If he fights Bradley or Alexander, he will be criticized. If he moves up to 168 and KO's the winner of the Super 6 tournament, he will be criticized. If he retired now, he will be criticized. The best thing for him to do is to do what is in his best interest financially because the critics and the boo birds will spout their hatred regardless and will not give him any credit.

WTF? Everything that has been written about Floyd and Pac has been beaten to death. This is nothing new. Pac got the FOTD award because he is flavor of the month right now and the majority of the boxing writers who voted for the award hate Floyd Mayweather. It damn sure isn't because of anything Pac has accomplished, because if it was based on legitimate accomplishments, Bernard Hopkins would have won the award with a unanimous vote and Pac would have finished fourth!
