  • Why does Pacquiao get so much stick for the catchweight fight?

The guy is a blown up Lightweight, it's amazing he even fought Cotto in the first place.

We should be thankful he was willing to step up a weight again, Chavez didn't go to Welterweight but no one cries about that... No one makes a big deal of Chavez vs Whitaker catchweight either.

If you want to crown someone the "catchweight king", look no further than Bernard Hopkins. He has not once but THREE times fought smaller fighters at catchweights, De La Hoya, Wright and Pavlik.

He made Oscar, a career Welterweight fight him at 158 lbs catchweight (who cares about the belt, robbery), made Winky Wright fight him at 170 (10 lbs above his highest weight) and Kelly Pavlik too. He also made Calzaghe move up but that backfired on him.

Because there was no need to cap Cotto at 145 when he already fought at WW with no limit.

    Thats why.

There was nothing wrong with him fighting Cotto at a catchweight last year. But he can't be excused for doing it again if they're gonna have a rematch at JMW. No reason for him to ask for that stipulation again.

Because they are just jealous that Pac is the Fighter Of The Decade.

Then he turns around and wants to go for an 8h title at 154 RIGHT after he just capped Cotto at 145?

              Naw thats not defendable.

Now he wants to fight Cotto at 150 Pounds. Another catchweight AFTER he already dominated him.

              Thats inexcusable.

if manny cant properly make the weight he shouldnt let his opponents come down, it doesnt make it more fair and it tarnishes his wins. why he doesnt just try and dominate everyone at his weightclass before he moves up is beyond me cuz he can

claiming bhop did the same thing doesnt take any criticism away from pacquiao, theyre both making other fighters fight at catchweights so blaming one guy more than the other really doesnt mean anything

Whether 147 was Oscars idea or not. PAC had NO problem doing it. He didnt ask Oscar to weigh 145 and he didnt ask Clottey.

                  So why Cotto?

DLH at the time was a Jr MW, and he made B-Hop come down to 156. Lets not rewrite history here.
