Why does Pacquiao get so much stick for the catchweight fight?

If you want to crown someone the "catchweight king", look no further than Bernard Hopkins. He has not once but THREE times fought smaller fighters at catchweights, De La Hoya, Wright and Pavlik.

He made Oscar, a career Welterweight fight him at 158 lbs catchweight (who cares about the belt, robbery), made Winky Wright fight him at 170 (10 lbs above his highest weight) and Kelly Pavlik too. He also made Calzaghe move up but that backfired on him.
1st off Hopkins didn't have Oscar move up to fight him. Oscar went to middleweight then Oscar made hopkins fight at a catchweight of 156pounds. Kelley Pavliks 2nd Taylor fight was at 166 i believe. and he won that fight. And Winky Wright challenged Hopkins, and it was a match that should of happened when Hopkins was middleweight king and Wright was junior Middleweight king. But no matter the weight Hopkins vs. Wright ends the same way and is an ugly style match up for both, but a Prime for Prime fight Hopkins wins a more comfortable decision. Calzaghe was already moving up in weight to light heavy because he couldn't make Super Middle no more.

So really only wright and Pavlik moved up in weight to fight him. ANd Pavlik wanted Hopkins and ended up with an ass whoopin after saying he was going to knock him out.

But you are right about Pacquiao. He only really had one catchweight fight and now everybody says he drains his opponents lol

Dom, i'm not gonna have a 20page thread arguing about 1 extra ****ing pound

PAC could have been a **** and told Cotto to fight him at 140...his ideal weight class at the time

From LeBron, Wade, and Bosh to Boozer and Lee. I'm still hoping for a miracle.

The same reason Floyd gets no credit for fighting Oscar at 154, Floyd is a blown up lightweight himself. We should have been thankful that Floyd even fought Oscar in the first place also. And youre wrong about Oscar/Bhop, if youre gonna start a thread gotta get your facts straight.

People in here are such whiney little babies about Pac making Cotto go down to 145lbs. Come on now people, don't ignore the fact that Cotto himself said that the weight wasn't the issue, Manny is just too fast for him.

                      So why Cotto?

Because Oscar was the draw, Manny had to take all he was offered.
