All I am saying..... is that Clottey put on one-hell-of-an inept performance, for somebody who appeared to be able to hit, and hurt, his opponent at will.

And the backing off in round 6, when he had Manny on the ropes covering up after Clottey had out-punched him..... was more than bizarre.

He knew Manny was waiting for him to unload so that Manny could find openings. Simple concept really and it was apparent during the fight.

That just went against every instinct that a "fighter" has.

He went against his 'fighters instinct' because he knew he'd find himself knocked down if he tried to do what all the other boxers did (hatton/diaz/cotto/EM/Marquez/Barrera).

That is why Mayweather will be a difficult fight for Manny because he will not only be cautious with his offense (pick his shots), but, he will also bring the offense that you expected Clottey (I don't see why) to bring.

I am guessing that only Clottey's regular trainer would know what goes on inside Josh's head, and it does seem strange for Josh to have dropped him "for no good reason" heading into the biggest fight of his career.

He didn't drop his trainer. His trainer wasn't able to get his visa to come over and I don't think anyone in the boxing world really tried to help him get it. Clottey was over in Ghana trying to get the visa stuff sorted but it didn't happen, so he used his cutman.
