    Is Peter Vs. Ruiz Next?

Sam Peter: "I'll knock Ruiz out in three rounds!"
    By G. Leon

GL: Congratulations on your impressive showing the other night. How do you feel about your performance? "It was a good fight. Sykes is a good boxer. He has a good jab and a good punch, but I was just too focused and I did what I had to do."

GL: Where do you go from here?

Sam Peter: "Well next is going to be John Ruiz. We're looking to get a world championship fight in my next fight."

GL: Do you think you're ready to fight for a world championship?

SP: "What do you think? I'll let you play matchmaker."

GL: If I was a matchmaker we wouldn't be doing an interview, but I'd pick you to beat John Ruiz.

SP: "Well there it is. That's the fight I want and I'm already back in the gym, now we need to see if John Ruiz wants to fight."

GL: What do you think of Ruiz as a fighter?

SP: "That doesn't matter, I know I'd send him packing in round three. He brings his ugly style and I'll give him an ugly loss."

GL: What do you think about his performance against James Toney?

SP: "I don't respect people who have to take drugs to fight. Be natural and use what God gave you, then when you win you'll know it's all you."

GL: Why look to fight John Ruiz when fights with Chris Byrd or Lamon Brewster would be more attractive?

SP: "You know why I want to fight John Ruiz? Because I don't think the other guys are available. And I don't really think people recognize Brewster's title. When I become heavyweight champion of the world I want it to be for a belt like the WBA, or WBC, a belt that people will recognize."

Finaly someone will put an end to RUIZ!

I say Peter takes him out within 8

Peter shouldn't be talking **** about Ruiz before anything is even signed. I don't think they have even approached him yet.
Why smack talk.. Ruiz/King will NEVER give Peter a chance at the title.

Tua couldnt take out Ruiz after stopping him after 1, Ruiz will be a plague on the division until he fully retires or is killed in the ring.

Peter is still green to green for Ruiz.

Why not Cooler? That's a great matchup for Ruiz and King because Peter's so popular now and probably wouldn't do too bad in ppv sales if it had a good undercard. For Ruiz this would be a good fight because Peter is inexperienced when it comes to championship level boxing and Ruiz would exploit that. Peter is a huge name know in boxing and his popularity would sell.

Sorry my man, but I don't agree with you here...

          1) This should not be a PPV event... but with King you never know, he might be able to pull it off with a strong undercard ..
          2) For Ruiz it is not a good fight because he will most likely loose. After his lose to Toney, Ruiz needs an opponent against whom he can look like a star, not a punching bag.
          3) To general public, Peter is still unknown and is just a prospect. So I wouldn't be saying "Peter is a huge name know in boxing and his popularity would sell."

This definetly could be a ppv event if King puts some other heavyweights on the same card like Byrd, Brock, and/or even Holyfield. As for the general public, most don't buy ppv boxing unless Tyson's on the bill. Last point, I wouldn't underestimate Ruiz, he has an uncanny ability to get the win or at least retain his WBA title.

Nickolay Valuev is rated #2 number in the WBA I dont think Peter can get a shot at Ruiz without getting a fight with Valuev, imagine that Valuev vs Peter both undefeated man that would an awsome fight something the deivision is longing for..

The general Public, I meant as general boxing fans.. those who just watch the sport for entertainment and don't follow it closely. And that's the majority of fans...

How many of your friends follow boxing as close as you are?
Out of lets say 15-20 or so of my friends that watch boxing, I'm the only one who follows it closely, the rest just watch it on TV
So to those who don't follow it, Peter is NOT "..a huge name know in boxing and his popularity would sell."
