And you just now realized that? lol
That's exactly why I hate the fact that i'm addicted to boxing or else I'd quit watching it! I keep hoping this dis-organized, corrupt sport ATLEAST will go back to the good ol days...but that's highly unlikely! Im just grateful I was around in the early 80's before this sport went south.

However, in the last few years Bob has become a detrement to the business, IMO, because he not only lost his 2 biggest stars, but they succeeded using a business model Bob told them directly wouldn't work.

As a result, Bob made a tactical error in having Manny fight Clottey. He made a huge mistake putting Pavlik in vs Bhop. He embarrassed himself by supporting Margarito's BS that he didn't know his hands were loaded. Bob is not on the top of his game.

I stand by my original statement regarding his actions in this potential may pac fight!
Well you know, a promoter's #1 priority is to keep himself afloat, do his best for his signed fighter, in money, health and careful matchups. That's why fighters sign with their selected promoters today. At one time, a promoter only "promoted" and staged the fight. The manager did the rest. Now a promoter is expected to be like an assistant-manager, PR man, asset preserver, wise counsel, and act as a private bank for his fighters etc.etc.

If Arum kept making matches which had little or no public appeal, he's soon find himself losing buckets of money, which would hinder or prevent him from putting on shows where even a top guy, (who isn't a box office draw)can't be presented before the public. I'd think that Gatti or Ward used to draw more enthusiastic crowds than Mayweather. I've seen several times Mayweather fighting in a 1/2 or 3/4 empty Arena, and people walking out before the fight was over. You'd never see that with a Gatti or Mosley or Hatton etc. Winky Wright, terrific boxer that he is, with a record of beating top fighters, can't draw flies, other than his hard-core fans. And there are others who have been also poor attractions although terrific fighters. I don't know why I'm telling you this, because you probably know it better than I do.

As for Oscar and Mayweather, everything they know about promotion the learned from Arum, who certainly built them up, looked after them well and made them into multi-millionaires. Why should he be prevented from making money as well, apart from the fact that without sufficient cash he wouldn'tbe able to function-nor would anyone in this whole world. When Mayweather was "stinking out the house" Arum always had to come up with his guaranteed purse, even though I feel that he didn't make much money from Mayweather, perhaps he lost money. As for Oscar, his main ambition and goal, as he says himself, is to become a billionaire. Fighting under Arum;s promotional banner gave him the taste for heavy lucre.

I don't blame either one for wanting to go on his own, but I don't think that they should onstantly bad-mouth the guy who put them on the shining path.

Sounds to me like Pac's turning out to be "Money" Mayweather the 3rd.

As we can clearly see, Pac is making things difficult with his money demands now. Just as he did vs Hatton and Hoya. We expect "money" to be an issue with Mayweather but Pac?

Interesting considering that Mayweather always gets bashed about how he fights for money.

Pac fought Cotto at 145 but Clottey 147. Pac fights Clottey but Bradley isn't promoted enough. Pac fights Hoya at 147 but ducks Mosley from 141-147. He wants Cotto at 150-151 but agreed called out Yuri at 154. Now he even wants Marg-a-cheato and I'm sure that would be at some catchweight.

Isn't this what Mayweather got bashed for? How ironic!

I told everyone months ago, that Pac would come out of this looking very bad, selling less PPV and making less money than Mayweather. He already walked away once to fight in a court room rather than a boxing ring...... 'embarrassing to the sport.

Great post but the difference is Floyd doesn't lie about his intentions, doesn't demand catch-wts and isn't targeting damaged fighters. Bob Arum is making a complete azz out of Manny.

Oh well *******s I guess Boxing really is a business. It's always about money, even Pacquiao is guilty.
