Episode "age"
Should younger fighters beat older fighters? Maybe. Eric Morales beating Daniel Zaragoza was the norm then. Should your age matter, or should what you're doing now in boxing matter? Bernard Hopkins for instance keeps on winning defying the odds. Shane Mosley and Eric Morales pulling hats out of rabbits in wins over fan favorites. Yes you can stay young, or you can get old. In this thread, age tells the truth, and skill...well they will have to take the back seat in...........................................The Twilight ZoneComment

was all that really necessary, that comment wasn't even directed at you it was to people on this board in general but thanks for exposing yourself lolComment

I don't mind being exposed as the fact giver.
Heres another fact.
You responded to me and my post, not just the thread in general.
Responding in general doesn't require you to quote anyone.Comment

You are quite right, Mayweather is NO Robinson nor Marciano, but not for the reason you think. Robinson is streets ahead of Mayweather, it's true, and he'll never be able to matchDid floyd get your panties in a bunch again??Don't get upset, bro.. He's ****y, he's arrogant but it's just a show to sell sell sell.. A marketing genius..
He's the best in modern days but not history..He knows he's no SRR or Marciano..We know it too..So please, no need for meaningless threads comparing a heavyweight from the 50's to a current WW...
Now you have yourself a great night, sir..
even a small portion of Robnson's achievements.
But Matciano is a different "kettle of fish'. He is one of the worst, if not THE WORST heavyweight champions we've had.
It seems that a couple or more of his supposed opponents were actually his brother-in law,
When an amateur,he actually fought for pay, 2 fights I believe. Then was reinstated as an amateur. His mentor and long time friend and manager Al Weill, was involved with the Mafia, which owned nearly every good fighter and manager in boxing, as well as more or less running Madison Sq Gardens. On top of this, he was one of the least skilled and talented boxers of all time.
So....naturally.....his fights/opponents have to be suspect. If you look up his opponents, AND their RECORDS in boxrec, you'll see that they were mostly no-hopers, worn out, or
never-was-ers". His best fights, for which he got much renown, were without exception against famous names, but they were actually so worn out and over the hill, or semi-retired (or both) that the fights themselves were very competitive, since they had slid down to Marciano's level. {Just think Gatti and Ward, or Letterlough and anyone, who had some of the most action packed fights but which will never get them into the Hall of Fame }
Jersey Joe had a bundleful of losses, and was the oldest fighter to ever win the title, until
George Foreman's second title run, many years later. Lee Savold was already retired for two years, was old, worn out with about 100 tough fights, and, over the revious 5 years, had had 4 fights a total of less than 20 rounds, had lost 3 of his last 4 fifghts including 2 KO's one DQ and a one KO by old, mentally disturbed, washed up Joe Louis in his previous fight before Marciano. Savold was a typical Marciano opponent, better than most, actually.
Archie Moore was a career light heavy, who often fought heavyweights for the money, just as his great rival Harold Johnson had done. and although good, had had about 180 fights before he fought Matciano. It STILL took Marciano 9 rds to beat him, and Moore KD'd Marciano in the 2nd rd. and was obstructed by the ref, from coming in a finishing him off.
We don't have to say anything more about the great Joe Louis, who was even more than washed up, who, harrassed by the Income Tax monsters, was fighting purely for cash, was mentally very disturbed, about 36-37 years old, averitable shell of his former self. He still went about 9 rounds, before the clumsy, unskilled champion KO'd him. It was his LAST fight.
Ezzard Charles, although a great lt.heavy, and good heavy, was also old for those days, with dozens of gruelling fights, and already with signs of the fatal ailment which killed him not too many years later. Of his 20 odd fights after Marciano, he lost 15 and won 7, he was also KO'd 7 times in that 20 fights.
There's no point in going further, I'm certain that Matweather whom I do NOT like, is streets ahead of the best Marciano.Comment

You've got to use Floyd stan logic in these types of threads. Circumstances and context mean **** because,
"men lie, women lie, numbers don't."Comment

No man this is 1 one of the few threads on this forum where this response doesn't fit whether it's right or wrong lol...Manny has alot more to gain from fighting Floyd than vice versa.
1. floyd has proven he can make $40 mil with another opponent.....Manny can't.
2. if Manny loses to Floyd it won't hurt his legacy all that much, his fans will still love him and in reality no one will be surprised if he loses------> because he is fighting Floyd Mayweather. The inevitable excuse of him being "small" will also arise.Comment

Sorry...... what was that........... could you say that again please, I'm afraid I wasn't listening...........
And, whilst you're at it, interpret and explain what it means. Thank you.Comment
