You Mean Mitch "Hug" Green, how about Bonehugger Smith??? These guys held on for dear life and didn't win a single round......but because Tyson didn't KO them in 30 seconds somehow it's a failure........

so beating a bunch of hand picked fighters (losing to some) and basically losing to every fighter that wasn’t scared of him and willing to make it a fight warrants this...

Tyson fought "never-wases" and "nothing-lefters" in his early career culminating with his knockout over an intimidated former light-heavyweight champion Michael Spinks, whose only real claim to fame was "winning" two controversial decisions against an aging and distracted Larry Holmes.

Other than the light-hitting, terrified Spinks and the out-of-shape, intimidated, comebacking, former great Larry Holmes, who did Tyson actually fight in his pre-prison days who was truly any good in absolute terms? If we measure competition based on who Ali faced, then who of all Tyson's pre-prison opponents was as good as Jerry Quarry, Oscar Bonavena, Ken Norton, Ron Lyle, Ernie Shavers, Joe Bugner, Mac Foster, Floyd Patterson, Zora Foley, Cleveland Williams, Jimmy Ellis, Bob Foster or Ernie Terrell, not to mention the awesome likes of all-time greats Sonny Liston, George Foreman or Smokin' Joe Frazier? Would you classify Bonecrusher Smith, Tony Tucker, Trevor Berbick or Frank Bruno with any those other fighters? Only if you never saw them fight!

The only real fight the pre-prison Tyson ever had was against the only decent heavyweight fighter he fought, a determined, well-conditioned Buster Douglas -- and Tyson was roundly beaten, battered and knocked out! That was Tyson in his prime, against a fighter who went on to "extinguish" himself by being knocked out in three rounds by Evander Holyfield.

People saying things like "hes got better this and hes got better that" are so so ******, guys the two completely different boxers... wlad is a massive juggernaut and tyson was a pocket rocket.. they both do what they do and use their skills and advantages to great effect... wlad will be more dominant naturally because his skillset is the kind where he can grow old slowly whereas tysons style relied on explosive speed, power and fast footing witch can only be maintained at a young age...

u can make the argument wlad is a better fighter than tyson was, but in a head to head matchup tyson would kill him. styles make fights, just cuz lennox lewis could keep a washed up tyson on the outside all night doesnt mean wlad could do it to a prime version. tyson was a shell of himself when he fought lewis and wlad is no lewis.

You must be crazy a prime tyson would destroy Wlad. His chin is terrible he cant take a punch. Prime Tysons power speed and agility would be way to much for Wlad. His brother Vitali would of gave tyson a fight but i think tyson would of UD him.

You're kidding right ?, Michael Spinks is arguably the besy LHW ever and he dominated in one of the strongest LHW eras, how could you say that his only claim to fame was 2 decisions over an old Larry Holmes o.0.

I understand trying to say Tyson's only wins were against bums and such but don't try to degrade Michael Spinks as well just to make Tyson's win look worse then it is.

Wlad against a prime Tyson, Wlad wouldn't find a way to hold him off. You can't think of the late Tyson. Go rent a compilation of Tyson's fights and then you tell me.

YOu hear the "without Cus" bull **** all the time from Tyson fans. Cus died like 7 months into Tyson's pro career. Tyson had accomplished nothing as a pro when Cus died. Its just more BS to try to add to the legend that wasnt Iron Mike Tyson. Tyson would be too small for Wlad. His movement is great, but Wlad moves well too and seems to prefer fighting while moving backwards. Tysons chin also is a bit suspect. People act like Tyson took some giant shots in his career. Tyson spent quite a bit of time on the mat. People claim Wlad beat nobody, who the hell did Tyson beat worth a damn? The best fighters he fought beat him convincingly. There were 3 great fighters and 1 legend fighting when he was around. Tyson and Bowe dodged eachother, Tyson got sparked by Holy, Tyson dodges Lewis until it was late in his career and he got destroyed, and Tyson dodged Foreman. So what the heck did he ever do to get this legendary status? Yeah he was young, that was about it.
