One of the worst examples of this type of situation (that luckily did not result in tragedy a la Paret)

Mercante had forever to stop this!

I figured this was what D was referring to. For the Cooney-Norton fight the ref had position but looked almost afraid to jump in, in my opinion.

You guessed it... unanswered punches that are making the jawline equal with the spine are pretty unacceptable in my opinion.

Yeah, this always left a bad taste in my mouth... that really did look like a reenactment of Griffith-Paret.

Ike's hybrid uppercut/hook was a marvel to see that late night on HBO.

It's more bothersome when the ref has so much time to stop it. Mercer-Morrison was bad of course (whenever I see Tony Perez as the ref, he's doing a poor job), but not quite as bad to me as Whitaker-Hurtado, because it happened quicker. Whitaker was totally ****ing back that left hand, giving Mercante plenty of time to stop it, but he froze.

Williams-Jack is still the worst I've seen. Even in that era, that **** was terrible. Ike was known as being one of the meanest guys around and even he paused and looked at the ref.
