Reason why I ask is because a mate of mine said he once heard of a fight where the guy hurt his opponent so hard with a feeble punch that the gloves where thoroughly checked after the fight. Well I thought they were checked anyways but have any of you lot heard of that?
Has any pro ever been caught with weighted gloves.

Panama Lewis got banned from boxing for stripping padding out of the gloves of one of his fighters, & allegedly Sonny Liston put some chemicals on his gloves vs. Clay to try to blind his sight, but i've never heard of a guy using weights or heavy objects in his gloves to increase the forceComment

I dont know about weighted but I remember a fight in which Panama Lewis was the trainer, he took the padding out of the glove of his fighter Luis Resto before the fight. Resto beat the man his was facing Billy Collins Jr., he beat him horribly for 10 rounds and won a easy decision. After the fight Collins eyes were swollen shut and they were so damaged that he could never fight again and eventually lost his sight. Panama Lewis and Luis Resto went to jail for about a year and Lewis was banned from American boxing. Billy Collins took his own life a year after the incident happenedOriginally posted by welshwalesReason why I ask is because a mate of mine said he once heard of a fight where the guy hurt his opponent so hard with a feeble punch that the gloves where thoroughly checked after the fight. was that the punch where his teeth were stuck to his gloveOriginally posted by JUYJUYI believe Jack Dempsey held an iron bolt in his glove fist and hit Jess Willard sideways with it. It was brutal.Comment

Dempsey never held anything but a clenched fist when he demolished Willard. Doc Kearns, his manager, lied and fabricated so many stories that his word was worth it's wait in snake**** by the time he started the loaded glove theories. First he claimed that Dempsey used plaster of paris, and then the iron bolt? When a guy can't even keep his story straight, it's a lie.Comment

It's the fight where Dempsey broke all of Willard's cheek bones, eye sockets and ribs. I believe he used an iron bolt because I could see he hit him sideways with it.Originally posted by welshwaleswas that the punch where his teeth were stuck to his gloveComment

logically, if dempsey was carrying an iron bolt in his glove, i have two questions about that: 1. how was dempsey's hand able to withstand the force of the iron and not have any broken bones? 2. how was willard able to survive such a beating from a piece of solid iron held by one of the hardest punchers in boxing history?Originally posted by JUYJUYIt's the fight where Dempsey broke all of Willard's cheek bones, eye sockets and ribs.
