Here is an article back in Dec. 09' in first round of negotiations where we thought everything was going smoothly.

Later Friday it became a done deal, at least on the Pacquiao side, when he signed the paperwork, the source said.

Mayweather had previously agreed to terms with Golden Boy Promotions, his promoter for the HBO PPV fight, but it was unclear if he had signed a contract.

The source also disclosed other aspects of the fight, which will take place at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds for Pacquiao's title and match the top two fighters in the world, pound-for-pound.

The camps agreed to a 50-50 split of the money, which could be gargantuan. Many experts expect the fight to eclipse the all-time pay-per-view record for sales, which is the 2.44 million buys generated by Mayweather's 2007 victory against Oscar De La Hoya.

Both fighters will wear 8-ounce gloves but each fighter will be allowed to select the brand of gloves he will wear for the fight.

so if I'm ODh or Manny and I have leverage I absolutely tell him wear the other gloves.

Why would you do that? Knowing full well he'd be at a disadvantage. Wouldn't you want to test yourself and challenge the best at their peak (100%)?

      • I see the sarcasm but no. I think there are advantages that the bigger draw can exploit. If ODh is going to give someone $25 mil then he can set the parameters. If he wants a larger ring, certain gloves, trunk color, fine. He can even negotiate the weight. This is all business dude.

If you are floyd and you want to make $25 mil to fight you gotta accept these parameters or go back to "slave wages" of $3-4 mil and watch as some other guy gets $8 mil to let ODh beat his ass.

Sarcasm? I really believe some fight for legacy and want to test themselves. I tell it to you straight, ain't no sugar coating involved. You didn't even answer the questions I had for you. You went off into a whole other rant.

The sarcasm was the peak comment.

I would do it because thats how boxing has operated historically. I think people fight because this is their job. I don't think fighters fight to test themsleves they fight to make the most money. Go way back. Leonard made Hearns wait until, as Angelo Dundee said, "the fight was juicy". Leonard did the same to Hagler. he fought Duran immediately because the money was there.

            • If Pac agrees to everything, and this fight is made much respect. PAc can make history and become a legend if he beats Floyd. Pac is an atg, and so is Floyd. Both are barely past great, and do fall into atg status as I rank and file great fighters as-great/atg/legend-3,2,1. Floyd stand a lot to lose if he loses to Pac. A win for Floyd gives him respect from fans, but they will want more. A win for PAc, and I'll call him one of the best fighters who ever lived because I don't think Pac can beat Floyd.

I agree. But I still believe there are fighters that do fight for legacy and challenge themselves to their limits.

Yeah maybe Miguel Cotto might be a good example.

Miguel is a warrior. He is another one of my favorites. No excuses. Ricky Hatton, though he lacks in the skills department, always gave it his all and tested himself against two ATGs of our Era. You already know i'ma say Manny, climbing up 7 divisions and fighting boxers that everyone thought was laughable 2 years ago says it all. Morales, Barrera, Marquez,Duran, SRL, SRR, Ali, Hearns, Frazier..etc.. could go on forever. I believe there are many fighters out there that loved to get in there and prove their worth. But the business aspect cannot be denied and that's even more evident now with technology/media.
