  • This to me is more of a sign that negotiations have feel thru than anything. At this point they both know what they will and wont agree to, its been on the table for weeks. What was the hold up a month ago if Pac has agreed to all Floyds demands? They fought blood testing tooth in nail, went to war over purse , now all of a sudden evrythings a ok? Same for Floyd if he bags off of the random testing ans accepts a deadline. Both camps will issue statements of damage control to make themsleves look like they werent at fault when the fight falls apart.

I picked both Margarito and Pacquiao over Cotto but I wouldn't pick guys like Gomez, Jennings or Chavez Jr over Cotto.

He knows how to get in your head. He knows how to beat you mentally, then he will beat you physically."

That’s when Mosley jumped into the ring last September to challenge Mayweather, who had just demolished Juan Manuel Marquez in his comeback bout from a 19-month layoff. After Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao couldn’t make a deal, Mayweather accepted a deal to fight Mosley, already confident he had a mental edge.

“Shane is out of character in this whole thing,” Mayweather said. “He doesn’t talk trash. That’s not like him to call out somebody. I think Bernard Hopkins (Mosley’s business partner) put a battery in his back and pumped him up to say those things.”

        -Floyd Jr.

"The fight game, people don't understand, is mental," he said. "You can be strong and fast, but it's really a mental game. I think that people will just not realize that. Yeah, you can get knocked out with a hard punch, but it's really a mental game. I think, mentally, at that point of my career, you can see I wasn't on top of my game."

        -Shane Mosley
I agree there's a mental level to the sport of boxing, but it has more to do with a fighter believing in themselves and their ability to beat their opponent in the ring. Since Mayweather is undefeated, and no gameplan seems to work against him, he will always have a mental edge when it comes to fight night.

I think floyd's mental edge comes down to what mike tyson said; everyone has a plan until they get hit. IMO floyd hits harder than people give him credit for. Added to that, the punches are fast and accurate.

After getting hit by hard, fast accurate punches enough times any fighters game plan suffers. On the other hand, since floyd is tough to hit, i think other fighters get very frustrated because floyd wont stand and brawl.

What makes you think this will be an even playing field just because they both take some ****** blood samples?

Athletes method of using PEDS are administered well in advance of the actual events to when they compete. This is known as "cycling." And no, I'm not talking about 'Tour de France.'

No damn test can beat it. That's why this whole Olympic test is bull****. Will be nice if the both can finally agree to everything, but really this whole thing should have happened months ago with less complications and bull**** demands.

Sure it's not the best possible program, the ideal thing would be year round testing, but it's a step in the right direction. I really don't get this whole "it wont matter, they can still cheat defense" would you rather no testing or testing that hasn't improved in years? Fact is someone who wants to cheat will try to find a way, but having OST will make them think twice before they do.

              • Like I've said in many threads before, Pac simply needs to agree to Mayweather's terms, Floyd is at a position of strength in these negotiations and Pac just needs to accept it, just like every other fighter who is not the bigger draw.

I agree somewhat that Mayweather's opponents might have a gameplan until they step in the ring and find out it's easier said then done. But i also believe it's very hard to come up with a gameplan and be confident about it if your opponent has never lost.

I don't know if never losing is a factor. IMO floyd is a great great fighter. Too many times he isn't givien the proper credit because boxing writers and fans hate the "money" persona he uses to sell fights.

I usually look at it like this; during the buildup to a floyd fight writers will always downplay floyds skills and talent and make him out to be a loudmouth who doesn't train or cant fight. Then when its time to pick a winner they usually pick floyd. They hate until their credibility or money (if they bet) is on the line. Then the truth comes out.

                      That's not a defence, it's the truth.

You got to ask yourself this, that this fight could have happened so many months ago. Couldn't the Olympic style drug testing crusade be put on hold for one more fight???

                      I mean come on seriously.
