The thing is this, we don't know what Jr really is. When you look at him physically, you see a kid with some good natural size, length and strength.

I think it's safe to say that Jr. was underachieving in Mexico with his father. Every report I read was that he was ***in all the chicks, living the life of a super star and not taking the sport seriously.

I have read on here after the fight that Jr. didn't look any better other than his conditioning, I think that is way off. His movement was great, his selection op punches was impressive and he was in great shape.

That was with 5 weeks of Roach. What will happen with an entire year of Roach? What will happen when he learns what Roach is trying to teach him?

It's too early to say but I think this was a good win for him, especially in the manner he won the fight.

I personally don't think the kid is going to be his daddy, an ATG but he can be a lagit champion. If he develops a jab, he can neutralize the speed and quickness advantages some fighters might have over him.

Does not make him a beast but let the guy fight some real comp now, he already has almost 50 fights, let's not wait till he is 35 with 70 plus fights to fight a guy like Cotto. Let him have his shot, if he loses, then he loses but how much longer should it take for that kind of step up? I understand his opposition has been weak but duddy was decent and Jr did his job, who should he fight to prepare him for Cotto or someone similar?

Yea no doubt but that's the whole point, that's the shadow this kid has been living under his whole life and it's incredibly hard and unfair.

I love the way he went HIMSELF and sought out training with Roach even though his father didn't want that at first. He understands he needs to be his own man and make his own name.

I just hope he sticks with Roach and continues to work hard.

Yeah it seems this change to Roach has really helped him along.....I too hope he can make some noise.....measuring up to his pops is just not fair to him...he needs to be looked at for his own merit and accomplishments...what ever those turn out to be....

One thing about the fight is that he did look in shape, and was obviously in shape by his performance in the late rounds. He looked way better than his previous fights, and if he weren't 41-0, then i would say wow what good looking prospect.

My gripe is that he's 41-0!! At this point in his career, the john duddy's of the world should be on JCC jr's undercard, a sparring partner, not a so called "test" for him..cum'on.

I'll give him credit for coming to the fight in shape, and looking better, more solid, but i am not sold just yet. He is obviously young enough to grow, so we shall see.
