Seriously...The guy's chin was amazing. Never been KO'ed, and made it to the final bell with guys like Salvador Sanchez, Julio Cesar Chavez, Wilfredo Gomez, Azumah Nelson and Kosta Tszyu. And some of those fights were 15 rounds long!

I used to go to a Boxing GYM around 3rd ave, and I believe the name of the GYM was Juan La Portes, don't remember too well. Gym doesn't exsist anymore though...

Well if it was named after him then he certainly deserves it. I'd kill for a chin like that.

Not a fan but Margarito has the best ive seen

Most guys people will mention are guys that dont get hit too much like Mayweather but let him get hit like Margarito has gotten hit and theres no way he survives.

I mean walking through Cottos BOMBS like that is unreal

I used to train in a gym where LaPorte was coaching at when I was a kid, I think you are referring to Betances Gym, if not that one then probably it is a different one but he was in all these gyms at some point or another. dude is a class act, we like to call him the uncrowned champion and I think many of you know why he got that name

Yeah if I can find my card I'd be able to tell you, but I always called it Juan La Porte's GYM because that was on the wall inside the gym; in huge fonts also. Me, I live at 156st, real close to 3rd ave, so I'm not really sure. Gym was about 3 mins away, it was that close. As for La Porte, never met the guy, or maybe I did

Margo does have a great chin too. He did take those shots like they were nothing, but Cotto pretty much ruined his chin. You could see it in the Mosley fight. The first decent shot Mosley landed in the first round sent Margo flying back. He even said it himself that he had not completely recovered from the Cotto fight when he stepped in the ring with Mosley. I think that's why he's boxing a lot more now instead of brawling.

La Porte on the other hand has dealt with bombs from several legends. He went 15 rounds with Salvador Sanchez, and afterwards went 12 with JCC and Wilfredo Gomez. And even towards the end of his career he took Kosta Tszyu's best shots for 10 rounds without folding. That's four not just amazing punchers, but legendary punchers. John John Molina was also a decent puncher and he took his shots too.

Not at all familiar with La Porte because he was past my time but if he had the type of style Margarito had, where he just walks through guys punches and puts a ton of pressure, then to survive against those guys especially Tszyu is unreal

But if he was that boxer type that didnt get landed on too much then i would pick Tony

Laporte IMO has the greatest chin of all time. Hagler is up there too.
