Who should Hatton fight next to gain more respect in the US?

Im new here so dont know if this has already been done but as Corrales is fighting Castillo and Harris will probably fight Maussa in a rematch that only leaves PBF and Cotto...If these dont come off however who do you think ricky should fight at the end of the year to crack America?

I dont think Hatton needs to gain more respect in America because the only fans who dont fully respect him for the Tszyu win are ignorant to his ability because its been a long time since he's fought in the US.

To raise his general boxing profile he should make a fight with someone like Castillo, its been mentioned Freitas wants to exercise his rematch clause with Corrales leaving Castillo free to fight anyone. Castillo and Hatton fight like Warriors on the inside and i'd imagine thats where the whole fight would be fought. Castillos got a really high profile and Hatton has proven he can take on and beat the best, that probably the most exciting fight out there.

Failing that i'd like to see Hatton vs Cotto because i dont think Mayweathers really serious about challening Hatton at the moment.

As if beating the hell out of Tszyu wasnt enough for some people.

Personally I would like to see him take on Mayweather that would be one for the ages.

Freitas didn't want a rematch. He was shouting that noise to get paid off for not enforcing the rematch clause, that's all that was about. Which has already been taken care of.

Corrales vs. Castillo 2 is all but a done deal for October. Its even already up on Boxrec.

I'm still not sold on Ricky. He beat Tszyu, yes, but styles make fights. Brawlers have always given Tszyu problems while people who stay at a distance have all been KO'd. Ricky is smart, I'll give him that, but his style is ill-suited for fighters like Witter, Cotto, and PBF. They would all be good fights but have the better of Ricky, IMHO.

I'd like to see Ricky take on any of the three fighters I just mentioned. PBF would be the biggest blowout, Cotto would be a great fight and it could go either way, actually; and Witter would probably beat him in an all-Brit match. That fight would sell out any outdoor venue in Britain.

Forget Castillo or Corrales, they are fighting each other in October. A Freitas match would be good but PoPo would have to come up in weight. Other than that, I don't think there is anyone else Ricky can fight to increase his name.

It should go down like this:

PBF vs Witter overseas in the fall

Hatton fights Vivian in November (after rematch with Maussa which should happen by end of summer, imo)

Cotto vs. Kotelnik/The sensation Mbaye/or even Urango (doesnt matter, he just needs to be active this fall/winter and next spring)

            PBF vs Hatton next spring

Hatton vs top 5 140 (at that time cuz he loses to PBF he has to gain cred back)

Cotto vs Hatton late summer 06.

            Done.

Thats fair enough, styles do make fights. I see Mayweather as the hardest fight because he's a proven and very talented fighter, Cotto could cause him a few problems but i dont see Hatton losing that and I think Hatton would blow Junior Witter out inside the distance. I dont know how much you have seen of Witter but as far as styles go Witter would have a nightmare with Hattons style because shown that against fighters no way near the level of ability Hatton has. I think Hatton would rather leave it all(including his health) in the ring that get beat by Witter too.

Mayweather IMO is the only fighter i'd give a good chance of beating Hatton.

ok good comments but to be honest i dont think arum will let cotto fight ricky its too early for him..... harris maussa is not even done yet so even if they get it done by september say, hes not going to fight ricky in november.

PBF and witter seem the most likely but warren is not keen on witter (maybe waiting to see if ricky dosnt make it big time then falls back on a massive british payday to get him bk in there?!) and it will be ages before a deal is negotiated for a superclash between ricky and PBF especially with talk of PBF moving up.....so what credible opponents does that leave? Ndou?Corley?Mbaye?

If Ricky fights any of these at the end of the year and wins convincingly, whilst waiting for the others to fight their respective fights will he gain some american respect?

Rumors have escalated Hatton wants Maussa, so who knows if Vivian will get his shot again. I know they said there is a rematch clause though.

We havent really seen Cotto in an all out war so IMO he is relatively untested. I know he has skills but he plods sometimes and gets very flat footed. His footwork and footspeed is questionable in my book.

Hatton needs Mayweather that is all there is to it.

Also if Mayweather would learn to use his uppercut than he would be a complete fighter, Cotto has one hell of an uppercut so that would be interesting.
