Man, that ended up being painful to watch. Great showing by Chavez Jr. This should get him recognised for his own skills instead of being seen in Sr's shadow. He's a good, solid fighter in his own right and while he could never be as good as his dad, he should be recognised as a world class fighter.

Nonetheless, that fight was freakish. I think Chavez could definitely have stopped him if he was told to keep up a sustained attack to the body. Duddy was only hurt after some big body shots and then hit with head shots.

He could win a world title soon. One thing that is obvious though is that he is still learning on the job and picking up experience that he didn't get through an amateur career. He's still progressing as a fighter and though he has a ways to go yet, he could beat guys out there.

this was a good fight but no way does chavez beat a top 5 guy at 154-160

cotto would murder him, martinez would embarass him, he might have the best chance against margarito

        ..
What do you mean, you ppl? huh!!!!

But jr. did look faster and seemed to have more pop than usual, but Duddy's non existent D and him constantly coming froward cold have made it look much more devastating.

Bob Arum, as much as I hate him and think he's a worthless piece of ****, is the greatest match maker in the sport. He knows how to build up his fighters

I gave Duddy the 12th round. Chavez needs to improve on his stamina which I'm sure he will.
How many more punches do you want him to throw?

Kid put a ton of pressure, threw a ton of punches most in combinations, and did a good job on defense (especially compared to his other fights).

I've seen most of his fights since 147 and his defense hasn't looked better, but most of the time he's thrown a ton and put on a ton of pressure.

If he did this with only a 5 week camp and only 5 weeks with Roach and Ariza, he's poised to look even better in his next fight.

Hahaha...not even close. Jr isn't a world beater but he looked like a completely different fighter. His conditioning, his defense was much better and he looks like he's focused now.

Roach is the best thing for this kid. Props to Duddy as well, great warrior

Arum "Freddie tells me he has no problem making 154 and fighting Cotto in the near future"

I think Cotto is the more skilled fighter but Chavez at 154 would be very strong.
