“Zorrita” Soto Keeping Busy!
WBC lightweight champion Humberto “Zorrita” Soto is in the middle of a well deserved rest from the ring after the tough fights he has participated in the last several months. While he waits for the day to go back to training, he enjoys the time he spends on his second job, as a bus driver.
Soto forgets the stress of getting ready for a bout and hops on his bus and criss crosses the streets of his native Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, transporting students, housewives, office workers,
laborers and all kinds of employees to their respective destinations.
“It is something I enjoy and I find relaxing,” Soto stated while seated in the driver’s seat. “This is part of me, being behind the wheel and taking care of my clients with out reproach. Being a driver is in my blood. My father and my uncle have done this their whole lives and this is what they have left me, making an honest living.”
Soto defeated David Diaz for the lightweight title, his third world title in thirteen years as a professional, last March.
Soto defended his lightweight title for the first time on May 15th when he defeated Ricardo Dominguez via majority decision in Los Mochis, MX.
“Zorrita” suffered a mild injury to his right hand that has been examined by doctors in Tijuana, MX.
“We have to be careful but luckily I have been treated very well,” Soto stated regarding the injury. “I don’t think I should have a problem in my next fight.”
Waiting calmly for news on his next bout, Soto is content in keeping busy with his second love, taking his diverse clients where they need to go.
