well I think he's better than "very good" sounds like you have a personal thing vs DLH and a boxing fan should put personal feelings aside and judge with their mind not heart.

Was he overrated? I mean I guess you can say so but I think it's because of the jealousy of his marketability and the amount of money he made in his career that people seem to be upset over.

Oscar was about good looks but he was also a great fighter as well. he was an incredible amateur and a great pro.

yeah, they're exciting but the best fighter on there is always trevor berbick (RIP)
highly touted undefeated Tyrell Biggs, Frank Bruno, undefeated Alex Stewart and undefeated Buster Mathis Jr, Donavan Ruddock TWICE in a face shattering war, Tony Tucker, Carl Williams, and of course Michael Spinks who had beat Holmes twice just a few years earlier and while a light heavy by nature, was still a force at HW and couldn't last 90 seconds against Mike.

Although he did lose to a steroid induced raging headbutting Holyfield, he did win a lot of rounds and fought a WAR that will go down as one of the greatest heavyweight fights of all time.

Pinklon Thomas and Larry Holmes, while past prime, were still top contenders and were the people that everybody wanted to see fight Mike.

Mike never ducked a single fighter and fought every fighter that the division had to offer. He made them look like primitive fighters but some of them were very good and had it not been for Mike they may have been remembered differently by history.

Mike changed heavyweight history forever, he was an absolute phenom. Oscar just happened to have more skilled fighters at the time when he was on top.

Tito Trinidad, Fernando Vargas, Quartey, Mosley, etc...

I have no personal problem with de la Hoya and I like him to a certain extent since he always gave us the fights we wanted to see. You shouldn't read too much into my word choice. I don't agree that people seem to be upset over the money had made, but I could be wrong. He was definitely an incredible amateur and I remember rooting for him in the olympics.

People were very upset over the money he made. As a trainer myself and someone who sees the dealings in my gym with the pro's, I can tell you boxing is a cut throat business.

People didn't like the fact that Oscar chose the ring size, glove size and venue for his fights but in reality it was smart.

As a fighter you need to make the most money you can and take whatever advantage you can, every fighter does that and Oscar had more pull than any other fighter because of his popularity.

People hated that about Oscar because they didn't understand the business side of the game.

LMAO. One has never beat an A rated fighter convincingly and the other is always crying like a ***** boricua ***** doing swan dives into the crowd.

News flash Kermit: your diving match was the next day.

There's no shame in losing to Hopkins and he split with Mosley, I mean some of these decisions he got were bogus. He did lose to Sturm though.

DLH wasa great fighter, HOFer who had incredible skill and was a beautiful boxer to watch.

Mike Tyson was INCREDIBLY overrated, his opponents level was no where near where DLH were.

DLH had the much better career, resume and it's not really that close.
Oscar is the man, he bagged Milly to boot.

Screw the haters. Oscar would have murdered Pac prime v prime.
