Bernard Hopkins' corner is always yelling directions.
I remember during the Trinidad fight where they were yelling, "RIGHT UPPERCUT, BABY! RIGHT UPPERCUT!" He threw the right uppercut and it landed and you hear, "WHAT'D I TELL YOU, WHAT'D I TELL YOU?"
Maybe you are hearing things in your head. I dont remenber that.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was fixed, although I don't think DLH would've beat Hopkins anyhow. Usually you fix a fight to have the guy that should lose get the win.
Top Rank has fixed fights before for sure. Its documented fact that they fixed a fight of some 40 year old bum named Joey Torres. And oddly enough, in that fight, it ended on a planned and rehearsed body shot.
DLH should've gotten up. guess he didn't realize how ****ty his acting was. Being a director, I've seen a lot of ****ty acting, especially at the level I'm at, heh. And usually when people are doing ****ty acting, they think they're being convincing.
not rigged what so ever. i aint a die hard fan of either, but it was just a perfectly placed punch. it was jus before the kidney, but still legal. it couldn't get more perfect than that
I don't think it was rigged, but I definitely know for a fact that Oscar De La Hoya quit. THE "BODY SHOT" LANDED ON HIS ELBOW FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Who gets KO'ed by an elbow shot? Never heard of that before. De La Hoya quit, bottom line. He was gonna be brutally KO'ed within a round anyway so no big deal.
I don't think it was rigged, just DLH decided that was enough rounds and presto! hollywood liver shot scene.
i mean if it were something like that trinidad body shot that put mayorga down, i'd believe it more, but DLH definitely put up some acting on that one.
What it was...was a ****ty, tentative sparring session.
Oscar DeLaHoya took his 30+ million & got out before he got hurt.
He figured he put in enough rounds, & was competitive enough against a guy he didn't belong in the ring with in the first place.
I don't think there was any shady dealings prior to the fight. It was just a multi-millionaire taking his money & runnin'....at a big expense to fight fans.
thats how i see it. oscar looked out of shape starting with the mosley loss. he's lucky he won against a sturm. it was all about money with hopkins and oscar made his millions and took the easy way out.
I find it funny how some people say that..he could of gotten up from that body shot..how do u know? i mean..you werent hit with that body shot..how bout it was actually a perfect punch near the kidney..and he actually couldnt get up. With all that said..the fight wasnt fixed..obviously...and..maybe he got knocked down and didnt get up..but we'll never fully know.

Gatti gave Dorin a legit body shot and he took a knee and crumbled and didnt recover and wasnt really very mobile.
Hopkins his Oscar on the elbow and then it slipped and hit him in the side, I dont dispute it was really a legit knockdown but considering a punch like that cripples it landed and Oscar fought back for about 2-3 seconds and then fell and rolled around and pounded his fists. If Oscar was seriously hurt by that punch he wouldnt have pounded his fists. A punch like that cripples you.
It boggles my mind as he has been hit with A LOT of harder shots than that before but whatever, Oscar was soft in that fight and I dont dispute the knockdown but I dispute the fact that if he could have rolled around and pounded his fists he could have attempted to stand up.
