First off oscar's corner was making him do some wierd stretches after the 8th round. and Hopkins was saying "this is my round" over and over. And you can hear one of his trainers yelling body shot during round 9 just before it happened. And it looked like Oscar was kind of over reacting when hewas on the ground. Yes those liver shots hurts but would you really be rollling around like that and hitting the ground. Although hopkins usually starts slow it just seemed like he wasnt trying to hurt oscar until later on. It didnt help that they became co promotors after this fight also

It wasn't fixed....
What it was...was a ****ty, tentative sparring session.
Oscar DeLaHoya took his 30+ million & got out before he got hurt.
He figured he put in enough rounds, & was competitive enough against a guy he didn't belong in the ring with in the first place.
I don't think there was any shady dealings prior to the fight. It was just a multi-millionaire taking his money & runnin'....at a big expense to fight fans.

it wasnt really fixed, but de la hoya took a dive. the KO punch was anything but a liver punch and oscar gave a fake grimace of pain to make it look good.
hell, the guy got $30+ million. y would he have to put up a fight if he got that money no matter what?

Absolutely not. De La Hoya was and is in a position to become one of the richest men in the history of boxing, and throwing a fight to Hopkins could have destroyed all of that. There was very little, if anything, to be gained by taking a dive, and there was a whole lot to lose.

The only part of the fight I thought was rigged is Hopkins going easy on Oscar in the early rounds.

dive or not, oscar was going to lose that fight regardless, and im sure with all those millions he made, he would rather just avoid the pain.
i do think he couldve kept on fighting, but theres no shame in losing to bernard hopkins if you're delahoya anyway.

Bernard Hopkins' corner is always yelling directions.
I remember during the Trinidad fight where they were yelling, "RIGHT UPPERCUT, BABY! RIGHT UPPERCUT!" He threw the right uppercut and it landed and you hear, "WHAT'D I TELL YOU, WHAT'D I TELL YOU?"
