My wish has come true: Leonard to possibly Replace Lewis on HBO

As Tyson would say, praise be to Allah! Not the best commentator ever, but better than any of the other boxers who have had the position on HBO (I think Tarver is still better though).

MOD EDIT: Thread starter, link says COULD replace Lennox Lewis. Thread title edited as such.

I thought Roy was getting the job, but nothing wrong with Leonard. He's probably a better commentator anyway.

I actually don't like RJJ that much (not bad but not great). I frequently question where his claims are coming from - Jones is just about the last person I'd want advice from regarding boxing technique.

Haven't seen him in action. I would have picked RJJ.

                  and he is also annoying.

yeah but he nailed fight analysis like no one else ever did from the hbo booth. The guy fought different, but faced and beat a million regular guys, i guess it must be that.

I recently looked at some "old" hbo telecasts where he was commentating,, and man could he read a fight... By the second round, he already figured exactly everything that will matter.

I hope Leonard is as good as that, because i don't really give a damn about personality. That part is screwed already as they have kellerman in the team...

                    why?

                    he's a fighter isn't he

just because he fights in a somewhat unconventional way doesn't mean he doesn't understand the fundamentals

if anything he mastered the principles of boxing when he was a kid

in his prime he was quick enough to lead with hooks and in incredible condition so he could just throw power shots the whole round

doesn't mean he can't comment on guys that do the basics jab right hand well

he was a better commentator than foreman who used to constantly contradict himself he was good though

ray leonard is a great commentator also

people need to get of tarver's nuts he's ok but come on showtime's commentators are lame anyway
