Kirkland fought three highly entertaining fights on HBO, so it's not like he was an unknown.

If by unknown we are saying "non-hardcore fans have no clue who you are" then right now he is because they have sort attention spans and forget about a fighter who was garnering interest then went MIA for reasons we are well aware of right when he talk about him was just starting.

He can get that attention back with another good performance but right now I don't see why Paul would bother if he is looking for names to fight.

I do think he has a long road back. We are more likely to see him in a rust buster on ESPN first before HBO unless they put him on the flipside of something they don't have much money for.

But they liked him a lot and he got knockouts every time he was on BAD.

He will probably fight a rust buster at a higher weight until Anne beats his ass into shape.

Sound like a good plan like at 160 he can fight: insert random fighter who has been ko'd alot on FNFs, then maybe Vanes showdown at 154 before a bigger fight.......that is how I would do it if managing him though I doubt Freddie would want to put Maryrosian in with him.
