Different types of power. Foreman's power comes from his brute strength and heavy hands, Wlad's from his speed and explosive technique. Foreman could club you a glancing blow and still stun you. Wlad doesn't tend to do this, but his extreme precision and excellent timing often have a devastating effect on his opponents (as well as the height and leverage he gets on his shots). Let's put it this way, Foreman could knock out opponents Wlad couldn't, Wlad could knock out opponents Foreman couldn't. It all comes down to the style of the fighter they're facing. Fast technical fighters are more likely to come a cropper at the hands of Wlad, whilst big sturdy Sam Peter types would probably succumb to Foreman's power. Sure I realize other factors are coming into play here, but ultimately what's the point of power if it doesn't get you the stoppage?

By the way, for those impressed by Foreman's lifting of Frazier off his feet, Vitali did a similar thing to Williams (who weighed about 260lb on that night). Pretty impressive stuff, huh?

When Wlad puts his whole weight into punches his right leg lifts off the canvas and kicks the other guy in the shins, which is illegal and also makes him look like an uncoordinated ******. (see Brock fight)

Well many people on this site have claimed that lewis "escaped"/got a "cheap" victory by the cut stoppage. Especially since he was behind on points.

            Did lewis deserve the victory?

Yes. But I don't see what that has to do with this thread.

Also wlads jab is very hard to get by right now. The fighters from Georges time were'nt as technical with there defence or offence as the fighters today. If George fought the scared Wlad that fought Peter then George would destroy him. You could go on and on about the possiblities in this fight. Too bad it can never happen.
I'll let you into a little secret, WK was NOT scared of Sam Peter, not even a little bit. He
chose to fight Peter, an undefeated, reputed killer and KO specialist. This was shortly after he was recouping from the mysterious Brewster collapse, and, because the gleeful imps of boxing maliciousness were throwing around all sorts of insults attacking his manhood, his bravery, his china chin, and much more. There were even ****sexual allegations from our dear posters in Boxingscene.

He wanted to face a heavy hitter, undefeated, on the rise, so that he could PROVE that he had a good chin, was not afraid, and was not to written off, and still was a formidable force in the heavyweight stakes. So we all saw what happened, some of us really didn't see what actually happened, they saw in their mind's eye, what they were hoping woulf happen, and Lo and Behold, they saw it..But....it did not happen. Klitschko gave Peter a PHD course in expert pugilism, much of which Peter didn't assimilate or understand the direction of.

Suffice it to say, that although Peter was NOTED for his rabbit punch fouls, and used them frequently on Klitschko, WK made the specific point of NOT complaining. He brought this out in the after fight interview. So Peter scored a few fake, foul KD's, what were seen as legit by the blind ref Neumann(his eyes were tuned in only to Peter's fouls, which he saw as legit) and Klitschko'legit punches, were sometimes looked on as fouls.

Klitschko won 114-111 right across the board, Peter getting the couple of rounds containing the foul KO's and Klitschko walked away with the rest. This finished Peter as a feared monster, and brought him down to where he could be dealt with by average fighters. Klitschko, vindicated, got a new lease on both life and portions of the Heavyweight title.

Soooo..........having made a short story too long, I'll conclude with my conviction that if the WK that beat Peter, and Mercer, and the first 4 rds against Brewster 1, was to fight ANY version of Foreman, it would be aLOooong night for Foreman, who wasn't really a boxer, had only superficial rudiments of the science, relied on his strength too much etc. and in Klitschko would have met a much bigger, more athletic, better footwork, better technical skills, and with a punch in either hand which could paralyse him.

                Just my opinion

It's interesting that you should bring up this very point. Klitschko pre Steward, hit much harder, with lethal results. Post Steward, he assiduously has always followed Steward'instructions not to punch with more that 60% power. I noticed it in his early fights under Steward, and actually heard Steward say, on camera, that WK was only hitting at about 50-60%,he didn't need to since he was very fit, but there was a conception that he was prone to fading in the late rounds, not that he did fade, but this was to make sure it wouldn't happen anyway. So, now wehave a champ who, in boxing terms can do just about anything......except lose.

Listen to hall of fame trainer Steward says about wladimir klitschko power: If this man actually would just operate with close to 80%—he’s only operating with about 60%—he would be the most devastating heavyweight in the history of boxing because I’ve worked with him. Never, ever, ever have I been involved with a fighter who has so much one punch punching power. Even guys that knock somebody out—they get them hurt, they knock them down, they get them groggy—Wladimir is the only fighter I’ve ever worked with that everything can be normal like a big party—everybody is having champagne, on the floors, in the tuxedos, with the music—and the lights go off completely at one time. I mean it’s not like a gradual dimmer switch. I never saw anyone who knocked out people in a gym when they block punches and he did that about three weeks ago with a sparring partner—two weeks ago, prior to the fight. With a sparring partner he threw a left hook, the sparring partner blocked the punch and with twenty ounce gloves he was still knocked out. He has unbelievable one punch punching power and that’s why maybe he doesn’t put combinations together because he punches so effectively and with so much power with one punch, but his handicap and problem is he feints too much. He wants everything to be perfect—perfect balance, perfect this, and the last round he was a little overly aggressive, got out of position a few times, but to go three minutes with a guy with his power is like a lifetime because even if he just grazes you with a punch, you’re going to be hurt.''
