Comments Thread For: Robert Helenius-Gregory Tony For EU Title on August 21

Robert Helenius (12-0, 7 KOs) will make his first-ever title fight on August 21 when he clashes with Gregory Tony (12-0, 10 KOs) for the vacant EU Heavyweight Title. The two unbeaten prospects will collide in Erfurt, Germany on the undercard of the WBO Cruiserweight Title Fight between Marco Huck and Matt Godfrey. “I am thrilled to make my first title fight,” Helenius said. “My hand injured has healed well and I have been working very hard in practice. Tony is unbeaten but this will change on August 21 when we meet in the ring. I want to be a world champion one day, so winning the prestigious EU title will get me one step closer to my big goal.” [Click Here To Read More]

Bob Helenius is a hw prospect to watch. He's got good size at 6'7'', is very athletic and in his short career (12 fights) he's fought some pretty good opposition.

Maybe this lad can finally give Finland the lustre it needs in boxing. :box2:

Although I do need to watch some of his fights before I can form an opinion...

He's been David Haye's main sparring partner. He was a professional kick boxer and is ranked in the BoxRec top 100, with a win over an 18-0 boxer who is also in the top 100.

This won't be an easy fight for Helenius.

I don't think the abbreviation "Bob" goes in finnish.

I'm a fat yank. Robert Helenius is "Bob" to me and Alexander (Sasha) Povetkin is "Alex."...

I remember Tony from his K-1 days. He's nothing special. Helenius shouldn't have any problems with him, I hope.

I've seen some of Gregory's boxing and kickboxing bouts also. Helenius shouldn't have too many problems winning, but it's a decent test with both men being 12-0 at this point in their careers, although Gregory has probably already seen his best days at 32 years of age. Then again he could be another Matt Skelton who went on until his mid 40's.

I thought Helenius was going to fight Claus Bertino.
