I heard that the creator of the manga, a Japanese boxing trainer, was present at the Tyson/Douglas fight in Tokyo, Japan.

After Tyson lost in the massive upset, the creator got inspired and created Hajime No Ippo.

ts, ippo is nothing like manny pacquiao. he thinks differently, fights differently and his background is totally different. i wouldnt compare them. and miyata, as good as he is does have a similar story to floyd, but he's not quite as talented and he fighting style is quite different in may respects.

The moral the anime is that power surpass skills.. Ippo is continually develop his skills and so is Manny Pacquaio..

Mayweather and Pacquaio is the closest thing to Hajime no ippo anime.. All building the hype we all wanted see them together in a ring!! discuss...

takamura is no rjj. srr is a little better, but not quite right either. i cant think of anyone to compare takamura to quite yet, its proly some old school boxer who can do everything with ease.

takamura is the embodiment of perfection in hni. he does everything very well.

No way, aoki has no technique (not zero, but not much). Aoki has conditioning but no real talent, no crowd pleaser...I'm a big Augustus fan but I'm fair and not biased at all. Aoki has no resemblance IMO to Augustus.

Edit: I see where your coming from though, perhaps because he's got one or two querky moves, but even so. No fight style remotely close to Augustus.
