The fact that he wasn't the same fighter at 147 as he was at 140. Glenwood Brown exposed the fact that Taylor was too small and lacking in power at welterweight, and also showed how the punishment Taylor had taken was adding up.

But that Taylor still beats Berto.

i'll go with Meldrick in a one sided fight....the handspeed would be too much for Berto

one thing of note tho, Meldrick had a nasty tendency to lean forward when throwing his combos...he didn't completely duck down but he would lean

Berto does have that nice uppercut/overhand right combo that might do some things...

but overall, the gap in talent would prevail and Taylor, if he doesn't get caught, cruises

Yeah. The first Chavez fight was Taylor's last @ 140 until the rematch, when I think Taylor was just desperate for a big fight and revenge and went back down to the weight that he said he killed himself to make years earlier.

Since this is a WW fight, I was thinking the Taylor of 1991 (and early 1992 pre-Norris) against Berto.

              At WW?

I don't see him giving Leonard much trouble. I can definitely see Hearns or maybe Trinidad getting him outta there fairly quickly.

Too short, stocky, hittable, brawl-happy, and lacking in power for some of the bigger and more powerful welterweights.

Pre-Chavez Taylor annihilates Berto. TKO stoppage within 4. Post-Chavez still whoops him, just not as bad, TKO 7-9.
