the idea that nobody would ever beat or be better then the old fighters back in the day is outrageous people think there is something honorable or traditional about the greatness of old fighters but remember todays boxers are bigger stronger faster and smarter the skills and styles back then won't work in this era so it's not crazy to rank mayweather along with them in terms of boxing ability

There's a difference between great and the best. I think Mayweather is in the top 5 as far who the best skilled boxers are. But an all time great include's intangibles, if Floyd would have fought and beat everybody in his division instead of retiring and had been more of a people's champ he would be higher up on the list.

This is true for all sports. A lot of people are nostalgic and always remember past athletes as greater than they really were. The truth is, modern athletes are always going to be better than past generations because of advances in nutrition, technology, technique, etc.
