Comments Thread For: Boswell Talks Thompson, Tarver, Rips Audley Harrison

Heavyweight contender Cedric "The Bos" Boswell (31-1) reached out to BoxingScene.com to respond to recent comments made by fellow heavyweight contender Tony Thompson. "None of these guys will fight me. I have been trying to get fights with guys like Cedric Boswell and Fres Oquendo and they have all turned me down." Thompson said to different media outlets.

Boswell has always said everybody is ducking him, but it seems it was he who ducked Tony Thompson.

He should have taken it for whatever money they offered, a win would put him into a much better position for his next fight.

Tarver at H/W?LOL He is a kamikaze...What about Boswell...He is 40 and has no future, but Briggs vs. Bos will be appropriate deal for both.

actually this is the second time in the last year Boswell turned down a fight which he says he was lowballed....first oquendo & now Thompson....2 good fights for him....although I'm not sure how true it is but I read oquendo offered him only $5000! If I was boswell I wouldn't train for 8 weeks to make $5000...it seems pretty odd for a guy in his position to turn down these fights but if I'm going to get hit by a contending heavyweight I'd want to be paid well.it's always a health risk stepping in the ring & he's 40.unfortunately guys like him & guinn are not the first choice off opponents because they provide a highrisk,no reward fight with the possibility of an upset.he'll probably stay inactive because I doubt many contenders will fight him at this point & beating him now does little for them....tye fields got $25000 for fighting Galen brown so you'd expect thompson or oquendo would make him a decent offer.

He said "I will fight Antonio Tarver yesterday"

That doesnt even make sense. Harrison has beat better opposition than this guy has, He hasnt earned the right to get a big (compared to what he usually gets) payday against a Thompson or Oquendo. And if he was offered the fights he should have taken them. Unless the money was really bad...

Sometimes you have to take the small purse in order to line up bigger fights in the future. I heard that Jameel Mccline fought for free against Terry Smith because he wanted to stay busy; his next fight, he fought Valuev for the WBA title and I'm sure he make a good payday on that...
