Do any of you know anything about boxing? SRR fought in an era where anyone who put on boxing gloves could step up and fight a pro boxer. 99.9999999999% of SRR's resume was full of bums. Bum thats make todays bums look like ali. I'm talking about out of shape guys who worked construction that hit the heavy bag a few times a week.

The guys SRR fought weren't boxers, and they certainly weren't elite boxers.

The only bad thing about SRR was the conk.

Talk about footwork but its all coming from the muscles working right in the skipping. Every punch he is balanced right on the ball of his foot all his power ready to launch. Wear soft boots in the ring if you want to fight fast.

That opening combo just shows the intelligence and power. Mind and body perfectly balanced. Moving backwards but still leaning into his body punches, walking his opponent int the opposite corner and laying out into the head.

Is that a La Motta fight?
He doesn't get him down and I remember that line from Raging Bull.

This is his first thread on SRR and the first where he has mentioned Floyd.

I know his record ******. There were guys in the 1800's with 1000+ wins it doesn't mean they were ATG's.

              SRR fought 99% bums.

He didn't go 85-0 as an amateur that's a myth, in his auto bio which was wrote in the late 60's he goes into detail about his loss to Billy Graham in the amateurs.

SRR is the consensus greatest fighter to ever lace on a pair of gloves. I don't know anyone who thinks Floyd would beat him so I am not sure why he even belonged in the thread. Guess it's a compliment.
