  • Comments Thread For: Arum: If Chavez Beats Duddy; Margarito or Cotto Possible

The 24-year-old Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (40-0-1, 30 KOs) is preparing to end what will have been a seven-month ring absence on June 26 when he steps into the ring at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Tex., opposite Ireland-native, John Duddy, of New York. Chavez-Duddy will be part of Top Rank Promotions' Latin Fury 15: La Furia De Mexico pay per view event. [Click Here To Read More]

On one side I don't think than JCCJ is not ready for Cotto, but on another side we have been all complaining that JCCJ needs to setp up his competition so we can find out if he can match his hype.

However he is still young and can make up for a lost against a name like Cotto especially if he puts up a good fight, this is obviously ASSUMING he doesn't beat Cotto if they face each other.

It will be a decent payday though for both fighters!!!

Well, at some point Jr. will have to step up. But he will get destroyed by both Cotto and Margarito. But at some point he has to step up and see what he's made of. But as I said, he'll get folded.

I am so tired of people saying Margarito will destroy this guy and that guy. Who has he beaten besides Cotto and there is a big question mark about that considering the plastered wraps. Give me a break, Margarito is an above average fighter in the same class as Collazo and Clottey.

I'm not saying that Margarito is all that. And you pose the question who has Margarito beat? Well, who has Jr. beat? Actually, who has he faced? I'm not saying Margarito is all that but Jr. doesn't even belong in the same sentence.

I don't think Chavez Jr. will ever be ready to fight an elite Fighter, he simply does not have the skills or heart like his father....stay in the B-list of boxing Jr. so at least you'll get a pay day....

I think Cavez loses to both Cotto and Margarito, but at least he's willing to finally step up. If he can beat Duddy, about time he threw his hat in with the big names. His ability to live off his name has worn thin.

yep, he needs to step up and fight real fights, i am sure Cotto will crush him but he's at a point where if he can't beat top fighters then he never belonged, just like i've been saying about Berto; before the mosley/Berto fight was cancelled, everyone kept saying he's not ready for a Mosley type, but come'on, he was gonna fight a Mosley that Cotto had beaten 2 and a half years earlier, so if Berto would've not get past Mosley, it would be clear that he's good but just not that good
