Comments Thread For: Steward Tears Into David Haye Over Klitschko Fight

Originally posted by Dave Rado View PostFirst, you're assuming Haye doesn't think he can win, which may be true, but if it is, it makes all his trash talking and his claims to be the saviour of the division completely pathetic.
Second, Haye was reportedly offered 50/50 vs. Wlad, which is a far better offer than he really deserves given his resume at heavyweight. And after all his trash talking, for him to refuse to sign after being given such an offer means he's lost all credibility with everyone who loves the sport of boxing.
And for him to be reportedly seriously considering fighting Harrison - who not long ago lost to a taxi driver - instead of the Klitschkos, is so breathtakingly pathetic, especially given all his criticisms of the Klitschkos' standard of opposition - that it is making him into the laughing stock of boxing (which, ironically, will damage him commercially in the long run).
If you put business above the sport then you're not a boxing fan, you're just a business fan. There are lots of business forums for people who are just business fans. This is a boxing forum.

I admit that's done him no harm financially, but my point is that is attitude is far from typical. All boxers want to make money, sure, but they mostly want to achieve respect just as much. Second because Hatton was a million times more credible as an opponent at that time, when he was undefeated and had just destroyed Castillo, than Harrison is now. Third because Mayweather is not being a hypocrite. He is quite open about it just being about money for him, whereas Haye pretends that he wants to save the heavyweight division, and yet he doesn't back it up.
There are many other examples, because most decisions in boxing are financially motivated, especially at the top level.
I will respectfully correct your last sentence, then agree with it.
" Haye pretends that he wants to save the heavyweight division, and yet he doesn't back it up "
Haye pretends that he wants to save the heavyweight division, and he hasn't backed it up yet.
Originally posted by Dave Rado View PostHis Klitschko campaign gained him a lot of fans initially, but I think he's rapidly losing them again now.
And that earlier post indicated that most UK fans either weren't concerned at all, or in some cases even aware of any of this.
I think that the big problem for Haye would be if he retired without fighting either Klitschko. That would be almost unforgivable after the ****storm that he kicked up, and accounting for some of the crazy things that he said.
Right now I think that most boxing fans see this for what it is, because they've seen it all before. It's about timing. Haye is not in as much of a hurry as he was before, now that he has a title and options..... and Vitali is chasing Haye down the road like he stole his car or something.
Originally posted by Dave Rado View PostNo I was responding to your post in which you mentioned that Mayweather doesn't necessarily believe what he said, and I pointed out that while he uses hyperbole, he does more or less back it up in the ring, whereas Haye doesn't back up his talk.
" he does more or less back it up in the ring, whereas Haye doesn't back up his talk "
he does more or less back it up in the ring, whereas Haye hasn't backed up his talk yet
Originally posted by Dave Rado View PostI'm sceptical about the Harrison fight being such a big money spinner as is being claimed, but if it turns out to be true, it's a sad comment on the British media, who should be pointing out that Harrison has done nothing to deserve a shot and wouldn't have a hope of being any top 20 Heavyweight. But they won't, they'll hype the fight. I like Booth's honesty about that fact though.
Personally, I would excuse Haye if he took that fight. Just because it would put him in a much better position heading into a Klitschko fight, and give him a chance to have a really good yank on Vitali's tampon string.
Originally posted by Dave Rado View PostI'll probably watch it in my local bar for free, if it happens. And I'm far less excited about it now than I was a year ago or even immediately after the Valuev fight, both because I no longer believe that Haye believes he can win, and because the Ruiz fight exposed his defensive flaws so badly, especially his vulnerability to the jab.
I think that Haye still believes in himself, hes just making sure he gets his due. And even though I have my serious doubts, no way will I say that he has no chance.
I think that Haye has known for a long time that the day will come when he gets in the ring with a Klit, I think he'll be up for it mentally, I certainly dont think hes wetting himself over it.
I prefer to watch Wlad, but I think that Haye has a better chance against him than against Vit. Wlad may be better equipped to deal with Haye's speed, but Vit is better equipped to deal with his power.
Haye will have chances against Wlad early, but they will disappear quickly, so he will need to take them.
Against Vitali..... I dont think that Haye can chop that tree down.
Vit's a badass, plain and simple.
Originally posted by Dave Rado View PostHe's reportedly been offered 50/50. That's a huge amount of money, if true (and Booth hasn't explicitly denied it). It'll certainly get the bills paid.
Damn, we wait.

You are not "caring" about how rich Haye is, when you acknowledge that he has options, in the middle of a discussion concerning why a particular fight didn't get made. What were you thinking when you said that?
You are actually proving yourself ignorant by not acknowledging the fact that he has options now.
A true boxing fan would attempt to understand the sport as a whole.
You can choose to ignore negotiations, training, interviews, and just concentrate on the 36 minutes that takes place in the ring if you wish.....
but that just makes you a half-ass boxing fan, doesn't it?
A part-time fan even.
Whatever it makes you..... YOUR CHOICE to remain ignorant about how the sport of boxing works means that you have no right to comment on anything..... and if you do, your comments have no credibility, because part-time fans wouldn't know ****.
You talk about Haye's behaviour.....
Here is the main reason why you fail to understand Haye's position here......
Because you are a Klitschko fan, and you are still butt-hurt.
Haye initially came across like he had the biggest mouth that the world has ever seen, and he possibly may well have.
That arrogant son-of-a-***** followed Vit all the way to Germany, then walked into a restaurant wearing a t-shirt showing the K-bro's with severed heads, and then started a fight FFS
You hate him because he is an arrogant son-of-a-*****, he has personally insulted your favourite fighters (so, he has basically insulted you personally) and you have not yet had a chance to see him get put on his ass.
So..... I wonder who has stronger "personal feelings" about this subject?
****it..... I hope he takes the Harrison fight. I'm praying for it now.
Picture this......
Haye, actually..... ****it..... I have changed my position on this..... let me start over.....
My boy Dave..... is right now sitting in a jacuzzi, he has a cigar in one hand, and a glass of champagne in the other, and by the way..... he has his feet up.
Yep, hes sitting in that jacuzzi with a fkn HUGE smile on his face, thinking about how he stormed over to Germany and kicked Vitali in the vagina.
Actually, thinking about it, I hope Haye does fight a Klit first..... Vit's gonna have a fkn stroke soon the way that Haye keeps pulling his tampon string like that.....
The day that Haye signs the fight..... this comment will PROVE that you dont know **** about boxing..... "as a fan im calling haye a PU$$Y".Last edited by LeadUppercut; 06-10-2010, 03:09 AM.

Would that be correct?
Think carefully.
Can I find a post on this website where you make an accusation directed toward Floyd Mayweather Jnr, labeling him a coward over the failed Manny Pacquiao negotiations?
Yes, or No ?
That shouldn't take you long to think about, or to type?
Think carefully, because depending on your answer I need to point out three little things regarding your earlier post
