Today's History is Written by those Who Bend the Rules

It's such a shame. It used to be that guys would fight great fights, and would find themselves in the history books. But these days, you've got a guy like Miguel Cotto....

IMO in the top 3 best P4P today...but he's fought EVERYBODY, his two losses are tainted by people who've bent the rules. Against Margarito, we don't know what was in Margo's gloves, and against Pacquiao, Miguel was a bit weight-drained (there were a bunch of intangibles in that fight too, such as Cotto not having a trainer)...

You have guys like Bernard Hopkins cementing a legacy off beating smaller fighters.

You have Floyd Mayweather Jr. barely fighting anybody.... a brief list of the fighter's he's ducked... Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto, Manny Pacquiao, the list goes on and on. Yes, he ducked Shane Mosley, Floyd is at the top of the game, he knew even better than anybody on here could that he was getting Mosley at the right time. Floyd Mayweather always takes challenges reluctantly and has made his career of being in the right place at the right time.

It's just a sign of the times. Today's history isn't made in the ring anymore, simple as that.

I've actually been turned off from the sport due to all this bull****.

I can almost compare it to a child that finds out Santa isn't real.

Right now, Boxing is all about cherry picking and cheating. But the masses are eating this **** up and giving it an excuse to continue.

You are right. Boxing is no longer a meritocracy, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. The best no longer have to fight the best to make big money.

Oh they'll fight the best if they're, oh I don't know...50 years old? drained? Contract says one has to have hand tied behind their back, etc etc

This is not something especially new or unique to today's generation.

Fighters (particularly middleweights) whose best wins were against guys moving up in weight, not always seeing the best fights materialize, stars being prima donnas...it's all happened before.

That said, Mayweather and Pacquiao have to fight or else I'm putting my fist through a sauna glass window a la Zab Judah.

              2 pounds.

And if it doesn't matter since it's just two pounds, than why did Roach demand it?

...ignoring the fact Cotto only fought effectively for a single round before appearing to gas.

1 pound. He weighed in at 146 for the Clottey bout. Having the catch weight at 145 for the Pac fight in the first place was just truly pathetic, but please don't even try to blame his loss on that. You really think he got gassed after the first round? Gimme a ****in break.

First round, second round, third round same ****.

You could see the immediate loss of activity. Cotto looked in complete control if not on top of his game in the first, but before the 4th he was already showing less vigor.

Same thing happen in the second Morales fight.
