    Amir Khan vs. Joel Casamayor

What do you all think about the fight? Considering that it's a "keep-busy" fight for Khan and he only has 7-8 weeks to prepare for it.

Casamayor is certainly past-prime, his last fight was an 8-round UD at 142lbs, before that he fought JMM at 135lbs. I don't think he'd have trouble making 140lbs.

His 4 losses have been at the hands of great fighters (JMM, Corrales, Freitas, Castillo) but he is a two-time world champion in 2 divisions and has notable wins over Corrales, Katsidis and Nate Campbell. The only person to ever have stopped him is JMM (11th round TKO), he has a pretty solid chin.

He's not a big puncher (22 KO's from 37 wins) but might have enough pop to test Khan's chin, but has he got the legs and any speed?

My prediction is 7th round TKO for Khan, his speed and power will be too much for him.

I personally think the fight is a joke. Khan is WBA 140 Champ and shouldn't be fighting smaller guys.

Casamayor is severely dimnished, his speed and reflexeswhich he was known for are gone and while that may affect his offense it will noticibly affect his defense. He is easily tagged.

Khan will knock him out and it may not even take him that much time to do it.

Fair enough, you both are right, but do you think it's a good decision by Khan to be getting in the ring (regardless of opponent) in order to stay sharp and fresh?

Didn't Chad Dawson fight a past-prime/aged Glen Johnson, did he get stick for that fight?

Timothy Bradley didn't get any stick for a routine defense of his title against a bum such as Edner Cherry, whose record was 24(12)-5-2..

I think it's a good decision by Khan to fight in July, I wasn't expecting to see him in action until November/December, so I think it's good that he's trying to avoid ring-rust. There's nothing wrong with routine defenses sometimes. Salita was a mandatory, Malignaggi was a good opponent, Casamoyor is the only routine defense so far.

Its a good fight for casamayor, as his pay days are drying up fast, but for khan its anouther nail in coffin for him in terms of credability and resume. He is the WBA world champion and to be fighting someone who is ranked 20th in the world and well past his best wont really add to his resume and gives haters extra flack to hit him with. Yes its a fight with minimal training, but to be fair he didnt take punishment of malanagi so recovery time should have been minimal!

ok, if it were upto you, who would you have him fight? considering Bradley and Alexander are fighting other people and Maidana has his legal issue, that HBO contract etc?.

Victor Ortiz? power puncher, can box too. Khan whooped him in the amateurs. Moreover, they're both GBP fighters, they obviously wouldn't fight each other therefore.

Kaizer Mabuza, Olusugen, Holt, D-Hop? Urango lost his last fight and a fight with him would require more time for training imo

For a fight that's in less than 8 weeks, and considering we'll see Amir back in the ring later in the year in a bigger fight, I'm OK with this fight. I mean, I don't love it, but there you go.

Ok well he lost his 3rd fight to a debutant who now has a record of 13-4-3. lost his 7th fight to somebody with a record of 4-0-1 who is now retired with a record of 5-5-1. His record is padded. He had 5 wins over bums with >17 losses, one even has 37 losses, another with 27 losses.. Boxrec doesn't lie :P.

In short, he has no notable wins.
