I believe this to be not true. Cotto has never been a high volume puncher. He has always relied on a crisp jab and a 2 or 3 punch combination to put his opponents away. When you're fighting Class A competition like Manny Pacquiao, or a high B fighter like Margarito, who throw relentlessly, you have to be able to throw more than 2 or 3 punches at a time.
Cotto throw a left to the body and followed it up with a left uppercut that rocked Manny and left him open and what did Cotto do? He stopped throwing and began to defend.
Margarito and any other good combination puncher beats Cotto IMO.
