you make valid points regarding his legendary status. BUT trust me, Im glad he existed around my generation. most finese boxer ever by far. sweat pea is not even half of floyd.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. DOES NOT QUALIFY for Legendary Status
Collapse

True. PBF puts low expectations of himself. He expects people to kiss his butt by beating a SSM who 5 people have already found the way to beat already before floyd.Floyd will no doubt be a first ballot hall of famer, he is rightly classified as a great fighter with great skills, but he is still below Legendary Status. He falls short & does not qualify for it.
If you look at all the legendary fighters throughout boxing, they all have a lot of things in common with each other that differentiates them from floyd. They all have that aura, glow, & excitement whenever they step in the ring. They have losses because they took on other great legendary fighters unlike Floyd jr. They captivate, move, & excite fans for what they do INSIDE the ring. They are respected, feared, loved, revered, & NOT HATED like floyd jr.
Lets take a look at Floyd jr.;
Has he faced a true great legendary fighter in their prime?
NO. He hasnt faced a great legendary fighter period.
Has he had a legendary exciting fight?
NO.
How legendary is he when he's headlining a card people are booing his ass before, during & after the fight & have people walking out of the arena before the fight is even over.
There's a reason why Floyd jr. has a international & universal reputation as a cherry picking ducker who is scared to lose his undefeated record & only fights non threatening opponents instead of threatening opponents the fight fans want to see.
So what has he done to qualify for legendary status?Comment

Of course he qualifies i am interested in say the 50 guys you have above him, multiple weight division champ, fantastic skills and quickness to boot. He is also one of the top if not the top fighter of his era, the guy is so hated however that he gets **** 24 7. People try to discredit him at every possible chance...
These guys calling Mosley shot and done, were calling Floyd a ***** and saying he would never fight him just before the fight was signed.Comment

I have been trying to preach that to people for a while. You cant fault floyd because his competition his not on his level. He has yet to find that one person that could challenge him. This cotto argument that is going around is total bull****. Cotto said himself that he wasnt ready for floyd, **** cotto wasnt ready for welterweight when arum threw him to the wolves.if Floyds a bum and not a legend then stop talking about him; none yall can give a logical how anybody from 140-154 can beat Floyd. He's head and shoulders better than everybody.
Mannys the great Asian hope
Paul Williams is the great tall hope
Shane smashed margirito with speed imagine what a 29 year old Floyd does
you really believe I get tired and cut easy Cotto beats Floyd.
Somebody give me these fairytale gameplans it would be funny to read.
Ricky Hatton was the great white hope.Comment

You ain't just woofin'. Out of all of the innumerable men to ever lace on gloves and step in a pro ring, and Floyd is counted by many observers to be among the 50 Greatest of those men to ever do it?
And he isn't Legendary?
For these fellas, I'm just convinced, no reach or illogical conclusion is too far for them in their bitter pursuit of Ultimate Hateration.
I've watched his fights. Nothing legendary about them.Comment

Uhh, yeah there is.
Much moreso than anything Khan will ever produce, whom you seem convinced is destined for future Greatness (apparently just because he shares a faith).
Although, I suppose the events of 6th September 2008 at Manchester Evening News Arena are pretty Legendary. I guess I should be proud to have witnessed them live, then. =DComment

Well in my opinion there isn't. Go and watch floyds fights and compare them with his contemporaries in Leonard and Whitaker. Whitaker is a real "metal" fighter, whereas Mayweather is a cheap "plastic" rip off in comparison.Uhh, yeah there is.

I can fully accept that he is a HOF/ATG but there is nothing "legendary" inside him, about him, or in any of his fights.
I never said I was convinced of Khans greatness, nor did I ever think that he was destined for it. I just think that he has stacks of talent that can either be put to good use or wasted.
His opponent selection right now and in the coming years will determine whether his talent was put to great use or wasted.
The things khan has proved so far is a big heart, amazingly fast hands and a great jab.
His opponent selection so far has been poor and he has a glass chin.Last edited by Vadrigar.; 06-06-2010, 07:03 AM.Comment

The stoicism and calm clinicism Floyd carries himself with in the ring will become Legendary.Well in my opinion there isn't. Legends aren't always built on fire and brimstone, my dude. Although, we may yet see Floyd walk through that in the ring for the duration of a whole fight. That Epic struggle may yet be in his future. Just maybe.
I'm just joshing with the Khan stuff, man. I think his talent is good, but limited (relative to what is expected of him in certain quarters).Comment
