  • Why did Floyd Announce his retirement at this time?.

    To steal Pacman's thunder!!
Convenient is'nt it to announce it when Pacman is going to receive his "Fighter of the decade award.

I think he will wait for the Cotto/Foreman fight and recant his statement, depending on who's going to win.

But I still think and hope he will go back to the table and negotiate.
Otherwise he will be villified and called names such as "ducker" "coward" "chicken" by boxing fans thru his life if he does.

Floyd doesn't care about the fans or his legacy.

He doesn't even care about making 40million with Pac.

All he cares about is keeping his 0.

if he was thinking not to lose his 0, he wouldn't fight shane. there is something different in this case, i don't know why he said this, maybe he lies to draw the attention of media to him in light of pacquaio recieving his award, i don't know but something fishy here.

Fighting Shane at 38 years old is a lot safer than fighting Shane at 32-34 years old.

Old, Over-trained, Ring rusted. I'd say he made a safe bet.

That's what I was thinking,"Something fishy here".The sincerity of it doubtful.
Either Floyd Mayweather is BITTER or just want to steal Pacquiao's thunder.

all of you pac fans said before the fight even get signed that floyd would never ever fight shane mosley, and if the fight gets signed and he wins mosley, you will give him the credit for this, but like floyd said before the fight " when i will beat shane all the haters would say that he was over the hill and he is old and etc". i just want you to be objective, i respect manny as a fighter he is a great fighter, floyd is great boxer. i would like to see this match up. believe me no one scares of no one, they are elite fighters and all that matters here is MONEY.

the zero itself is his legacy. the zero itself is his money.

He hasn't officially announced anything yet really... he was just asked a question on an interview and said that he might take a couple of years off or whatever. They asked and he answered... nothing else to it really.

I give him credit for winning, but the facts are the facts.

It's becoming too much of a coincidence that whenever a division gets heated (WW division circa 2007-2009) or a particular fighter in his prime calls out Floyd (Margarito/Cotto), Floyd takes a break.

                    There's a pattern here.

This retirement thing is no coincidence.
