Comments Thread For: Juan Carlos Gomez Wins Ugly In 50th Career Fight

By Alexey Sukachev - You’d think a milestone such as participating in your 50th pro fight would serve as enough motivation to offer an inspiring outing.

Not the case for former cruiserweight master and unsuccessful heavyweight title challenger Juan Carlos Gomez (WBA #12 and WBC #14), who hardly impressed in taking a painfully boring eight-round unanimous decision over Turkish no-hoper Oezcan Cetinkaya (17-7-2, 11 KOs), Friday evening at Karl Eckel Halle in Hattersheim am Main, Hessen, Germany. What truly strikes me particularly, is that the crowd gove very little for their money, with match-ups that were all mismatches, surprisingly allowed in a German ring.

that the canvas was not covered with the usual litter from dissatisfied fans, indicates to me the uncomplaining, stolid, patience of the local fight attendees, and a striking contrast with English or American fight-goers.

    Remarkable!

Vitali ruined Gomez and took his soul.

JC Gomez has had several warm-ups now, he needs to stop fighting these journeymen and take on a top 50 HW.

Gomez has been active & a step up would be nice but I hear he's pretty round these days & really needs to work harder to be taken seriously.it's not so much his opponents are weak because you expect that but it sounds like he's really got alot of work to do to get in shape.

Like most people beaten by a Klitschko (think Calvin Brock, Sultan Ibragimov, Kirk Johnson....), Gomez is now a shell of his former self, a zombie who will never recover.

The Klitschkos do it to everybody: Calvin Brock, Sultan Ibragimov, Kirk Johnson, Gomez. They don't just beat people, they haunt people forever. Even Lennox Lewis was so haunted by Vitali they he retired rather than face him in the ring again.

Gomez is just a stepping stone at this point of his career. He can try to prove me wrong by not showing up at 240-250 lbs to his fights and giving next to no effort.
