Heavyweight Retirement: Chris Byrd & Danny Williams

Both recently announced retirement, and both were involved in some tremendous bouts and great upsets.. In a crowd-winning performance in Germany, Chris Byrd caused Vitali Klitschko to retire on his stool with a debilitating injury, and Danny Williams actually KO'd a past-his-prime Mike Tyson in the 4th round.

Both did a lot for the sport, participating in some truly memorable bouts. Byrd is undecided on his next venture as far as I know, while Williams is planning on becoming a security guard to the stars. Much success in their future endeavors.

Byrd was a badass. I remember watching them both when I was in high school. Thanks for the great fights!

There's an audio interview here. It's from a few days ago, Byrd actually calls himself "semi-retired" at one point, but he says a few times that he's "done" and that he's "hanging up the gloves." Like many retired boxers, he says he'd only ever consider fighting again for a massive payday.

I'd like to see more from Chris, I dunno why but i've always liked him. He should definitely be down at cruiserweight though.
