I don't consider guys getting their black belt in 2 to 4 yrs a master, which i'll bet you how most MMA fighters got theirs. Those type of belts are bought and paid for. It clearly shows when you see these guys fight that they can't even utilize their knowledge even when given a chance to stand up and fight.

They have a right to dislike the sport though. There is nothing wrong with that.

I found you GSP's earnings. Since you want to discount Shane's last fight...

        UFC 100 - 400K.

        UFC 94 - 400K.

        UFC 87 - unreleased.

        UFC 83 - unreleased.

        UFC 79 - 160K.

So Im fairly certain Shane made significantly more then the 2nd biggest UFC draw. But Ill be waiting for you to post his earnings though. So we can laugh together.

You are right everyone has the right to dislike whateversport they want, hell Im sure their are basket ball players who hate foot ball doesn't mean they should go around calling people who play football gay or some other ignorent ****. Just because you don't wanna be a plummber doesn't mean you are gonna trash everyone who happens to be a plummber either

Maybe at one of those National chain karate place you might be able to attain a black belt in 4 years but in serious dojo's it takes at the very least 10years. Seriously man you think these guys are training with half assed instructors? They train with Gracies for *** sake or they are training with people who studied under them. The Gracies invented Brazilian Ju Jitsu you think they are just gonna give out belts to just anyone? Come on man stop coming up with the unrealistic excuses. You act like boxing is the only fighting style with any kind of standards.

he also studied under a gracie and won the Ju Jitsu world Championships the very same year he got that Black belt. he was considered a prodigy at the sport in fact thats his nick name.

So yes he is a master. Look it's right here in wikipedia!!!

                Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
In 1997 Penn began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Ralph Gracie, eventually earning his purple belt from Gracie.[7] At that point he moved to Nova União where he was eventually awarded his black belt in 2000 by Andre Pederneiras.[7] A few weeks later he became the first non-Brazilian to win the black-belt division of the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.[8] While Penn's most well-known and prestigous achievement was placing first in the black belt division in the 2000 world championships, he had success at the Mundials in previous years. In 1999, at the age of 20, Penn finished 3rd in the brown belt division, losing only to Fernando Terere, whom many consider the greatest jiu jitsu practioner of all time.

While most people need a decade or more to become a black belt, Penn had, with only three years of training, not only received a black belt but defeated people who had been training their entire lives on his way to winning the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship.[9] Penn is thought to have earned the fastest black belt ever.

Fight in MMgAy for $200,000 or fight in boxing for $40,000,000 ummmm hard choice for Floyd. The MMA groupies will still act like Floyd is scared or some ****.

And you actually believe that every single MMA fighters have trained with The Gracies, tell me you're ****ing kidding right. Listen, i'm not necessarily saying that you can't be good if you only have been training for a short period of time. BJ Penn is a good example that Chino727 have given. But the Graicies have dedicated their life into it and like you said have invented jiu jitsu. So for me, i consider them masters, BJ Penn with only 3yrs of training is not a master IMO even though the Gracies have given him their blessing. Is he good, hell ****ing yeah. But he's one in a million, that's why he was regarded as a phenom and a freak. He's just naturally talented. Just like how Floyd is sooo much of a better boxer than most boxers that have more experience than him, he's a natural.
