He was a long way past his best, but still a very dangerous fight for anyone. In my opinion his peak was around 1998 to 2002, from the Junior Jones fight through to the rematch with Barrera. Had that version of Morales fought Pacquiao, he would have stopped him instead of getting the decision.

In my opinion he was already past it by 2003, he wasn't shot but you could see a big difference. He looked shot to me in the 3rd fight, not taking away anything from Manny he had great determination and was incredibly conditioned but Erik was past his prime.
