Miguel Cotto, against Arizona immigration law

Im a fan of Cotto but i disagree with his stand on immigration.....

The federal government REQUIRES legal immigrants (green card holders) to carry the green card AT ALL TIMES for proper identification. This law issued by the USCIS (US Citizenship and Immigration Services) is rarely enforced by the federal government as USCIS agents (aside from Border Patrol agents) are spread too thin and are mostly found on border towns. What Arizona did is make a law to enforce it in their state deputizing state police to ENFORCE an existing Federal law.

This is the United States of America and there is nothing wrong with enforcing an existing law. Im not white but i do not mind being asked by state police for my documents if they deem it necessary if they think i broke the law by being undocumented

Hispanic/Asian americans must put their loyalty with America FIRST, then mexico/china/india/dominican republic/philippines SECOND......

I agree... to a point.. but where is the line that you draw?.. How is there a example of su****ion of illegal status? i still don't get that.. that in my book is discrimination no matter which way you slice it.. I agree numerous times on this thread that illegal immigration is wrong.. but so is discrimination... How can anyone possibly tell if you're not a legal resident? wheres the justifiable cause?? I need a reason for a example of su****ion of illegal status yet no one has given me one..

You are misinformed the law states that the police have the right to stop you and ask for proof of citizenship if they have su****ion of illegal status. America was founded on "legal" immigration. Not uncontrolled **** that goes on today.

Reasonable su****ion will be if for example someone runs a red light, the police officer stops that person and like they are required they ask for ID or DL. Once they fail to provide that then that is a reason to ask for additional documents and well if they don't have them they go from there. A state issued ID or DL is enough to prove you are a legal citizen, if you are a legal citizen why would you not have one?

I dont think its that man.. I honestly think its more of bieng discrimination.. Its basically giving people power to question your ethnicity.. How about if they went up to blacks and said are you from Africa? Or white and say are you from England?.. I think its pretty ****ed up considering that America was founded on by immagration.. but thats just my opinion...

I'm from PR and don't need Papers to go to the US just my Drivers license from PR or Passport if I don't have any of my IDs with me like any other American.

Dude... please stop bieng ignorant.. Everyone knows Cotto just learned english a couple years ago.. He still has trouble speaking the language. But at least he attempts to learn...

This is not reasonable su****ion.. this is running a red light and breaking the law.. If you're driving without lisence and registration and insurance you're wrong.. therefor you deserve all the punishment you get..

Now lets say a hispanic was driving and had no papers.. Cop pulls him over asks for papers and proof of citizenship correct?.. Would that same cop ask a white man for his proof of citizenship if he has no lisence or registration like you say?..

I see that as discrimination.. Unless its garunteed that all people no matter what color or race will be asked for proof of citizenship then i will stick by my guns and still believe that THIS IS DISCRIMINATION... regardless of how you slice it my friends..
