sorry, but your going against the facts here. Everone reguards that weight range as the heavyweight dividision. ALL fighters had to FOLLOW these weight limits.

Our current definitions have no authority over the previous ones.

If you think Ali is overrated, then so is Wladimir Klitschko, so is Lennox Lewis, so is Larry Holmes. All the great heavyweights in the past are overrated if you think Ali is overrated. Come on don't be an idiot here, I mean you can nitpick his career all you want, but remember the government took three years away from his prime and he still dominated the HW division after that.

as I said in an earlier post, it's not a big deal to be a bit overrated when you're rated as high as Ali is, usually no 1 HW of AT, or even the GOAT for some people

the inconsistency of the quality of his performances in his second career (he was sloppy in many of his fights) and the fact that he has been given at least 2 gift decisions (maybe 4) makes me think he is overrated

but you are entitled to your own opinion, this thread is meant to discuss, so you can discuss all you want, but calling me an idiot is useless and doesn't add anything to the thread

Exactly what I am saying. That's why our current definition might change and then Klitschko vs Byrd would not be count as "heavyweight" (but as, letsay, "supercruiserweight"). The same way our generation came to the conclusion that 192 vs 181 is called cruiserweight (Ali vs LaMar Clark).

Although I disagree, I respect your opinions about "gift descisions" because they are DEBATABLE. But to say that ALi Never fought in the HEAVYWEIGHT division is just plain absurdity.
