Being a bigger draw does not make you overrated. His resume speaks for it self.

How can you say he was "lucky" to beat frazier in manilla. Ali fought his heart out for 14 rounds. Just compare the state of fraziers face and ali's face after the fight and you will see.
Ali wasn't lucky, but comparing facial damage to judge a fight is super weak. Who do you think suffered more body damage in that fight?

ATG HW sure, but GOAT no, especially not in fantasy h2h time-machine match-ups that a lot of people put him in. For a guy who was such a defensive genius in the ring, he sure took a lot of punishment. His power is also overrated, he couldn't finish a lot of guys smaller than him. Also, just take a look at boxrec and you will see that he was the bigger man size wise in most of his fights, he was fighting LHWs and CWs for most of his career. I think part of the reason why a lot of people have him as GOAT on their lists because of the great marketing he did for himself, he even said so himself.

Uhh is the TS seriously? is Ali a bit overrated? uhh...hell no. Have you ever watched Ali? He is by far the greatest all time ***** of all time. Homeboy got knocked into ******ation by Henry "185 lbs soaking wet" Cooper. He then cheated to win that fight. Sorry Ali was a joke. He was the most overrated thing on earth till Kim Kardashian arrived. He won some rigged fights against Liston, he was consistently knocked down by bums (I saw some here say Ali fought the best...how do you explain Chuck Wepner who was fighting in local YMCA's before facing Ali and knocking that bum to the canvas). Hes a joke, anyone with any boxing knowledge can tell you that. What if PBF consistently fought guys 40 lbs less than him and mainly fought guys coming off of losses. Also Frazier was shot after the first Ali fight, he won 5 of his last 10 fights....the dude was done. Good job Ali squeeking out 2 victories over a shot frazier kind enough to give you a rematch unlike what you did for Foreman and Young.

64-67 his greatest years....yeah cause beating Cleveland "Literally Gut Shot" Williams was a great accomplishments. How was Williams' career after he was SHOT IN THE GUT? Oh he fought like 2 more times, did awful and retire? Good job Ali. The dude lost to a fighter with 6 pro fights. 6 PRO FIGHTS. And people want to say he was the greatest. He ranks somewhere between Chris Byrd and Buster Douglas on my list of all time heavy weights, because he was knocked ******ed by a 185 pounder. I mean beating FLoyd Patterson? Who cares, dude would be a LHW today. Most of his career he fought in the low 180's. Great job Ali...And who the hell is Brian London and why did Ali fight him? I mean 3 months before fighting Ali he had lost to the great Famous Amos Johnso....What a joke Ali was. He has more bums on his resume than any other fighter ever.

Oh and its well known that Doug Jones beat Ali in 63...the great...Doug Jones. 188 lbs of waterweight and ferocity. Did he give Doug Jones a rematch? Of course not, the hand picked 188 pounder who had lost 3 times in the previous 2 years and had never fought anyone over 200 lbs was too much for the coward Ali. Did Doug Jones ask for a rematch? You bet "I'm not knocking his big mouth, he made me a lot of dough. He talks a lot outside but doesn't show much in the ring. He better fight me again before he even thinks of Liston." -Doug Jones

Ali is a coward and an overrated fraud. Any real fan of boxing can see that.

Any real fan of boxing can see through your hateful agenda. You can always pick a great champion apart by selectively criticizing his record. Rating him between Byrd and Douglas shows that you are someone who can't be taken seriously.

This a silly post. Ali fought EVERY fighter there was to fight. The media were even saying towards the end of his career that there was no one else left for him to fight. You can't say that for many ATG's in history can you?

Ali didn't fight light HW and CW for most of his career. That's just silly. There are weight classes in boxing not height classes.

The Ali that fought cleveland williams, no one in the history of the heavyweight division past and present could beat him.

Ali's power is underrated, actually. You should see the string of knock outs he got in his early career. He even managed to TKO/KO fighters late in his career.

He is also a three time lineal heavyweaight champion. Not the bull**** belts that you have today.

this is ridiculous because if you just glance at his resume, you will see it is arguably the greatest of all time.

He is the greatest of all time.

He is the bravest fighter of all time.
He is the smartest boxer of all time (not including ring IQ) .
He is the fastest heavyweight of all time.
Possibly the greatest resume of all time.
THREE time LINIAL heavyweight champion of the world
NEVER knocked out in his career.
              top 10 ATG heavyweight chin.

The list goes on and on......

Def. not a coward, come one man... Buster Douglas? Byrd? He is an ATG for sure, but he is a bit overrated as being the GOAT. Marcianno, Johnson, Luis, Holmes, Lewis, all rank higher than him in the standings IMO, but he comes just after that. So top 6 for me, a lot of people would put him in the top 3 but I think that's overrating him but if you put him outside the top 10, that's seriously underrating.

While at HW how many 185 pounders knocked Byrd or Buster Douglas unconcious and forced them to cheat by using smelling salts? In fact while at HW how many light heavies did Byrd or Buster Douglas fight.

Ali fan mentality- Ali beat Foreman, Frazier, and Norton.

Reality response- yeah he also was knocked down by Wepner, got beat by Frazier and Norton, lost to a guy with 6 fights, had a lot of questionable decisions

Ali Fan- Oh he was passed his prime when all that stuff happened

Reality respone- He fought wepner within months of Foreman

Ali Fan- yeah but his prime was in the 60's

Reality Respone- you mean when he got beat by Jones and cheated against Cooper?

Ali Fan- no, his prime was 1966.

Reality Response- so his prime consisted of 1 year.

Can you imagine if any other fighter was allowed so many excuses "yeah I lost, but I wasnt in my prime" Ali had 1 prime year according to his fans, its a joke. Wlad gets no excuses why does Ali? And Vitaly took 4 years off, came back, won the title, dominates, Ali is a joke.

What's his KO%? I rest my case just on that fact alone in terms of his power being overrated, no great puncher has a 60% KO ratio, especially for a guy who was taller and heavier than most of his opposition. Are you telling me he did not fight a bunch of 175lbs and 185lbs guys? Go look at boxrec again, I can tell you the names but you should do your own research. He was not just taller than most of his opponents, he was also heavier. But am I saying that he was not an ATG, hell no, he is top 6-7 but not a GOAT, you are overrating him.

He definitely belongs in the top two ATG's. I believe he is the greatest of all time.

I never claimed he was a puncher. I believe he has decent enough power to finish the job. A 60% KO ratio is quite amazing for a defensively minded fighter.

When did I say he did not fight a bunch of 175ib and 185ib? How is it Ali's fault that floyd Patterson was one of the youngest heavyweight champions of all time? Should he have just gone back down to his original weight class then?

Once again boxing has weight classes not height classes. I would like to see you complain about tommy hearns etc..
