2000 - Floyd
2001- Floyd
2002- Floyd
2003- Pac
2004- Pac
2005- Pac
2006- Pac
2007- Floyd
2008- Pac
2009-Pac
2001 and 2002 are Floyd's dominant years in terms of competition. You may want to add 2007 as well. But I consider 2007 more of a year when Floyd burst out in the mainstream which also makes it his most profitable year.
2003 is definitely for Pac. It was the year he got his status as one of the sport's rising stars after an upset win over then P4P#3 Barrera.
Floyd had only one fight in 2004 so you cant give that year for him. Pac fought a prime JMM to a draw in what consider to be a contender for fight of the year. It certainly trumphs his win over a good Corley, who in my opinion is nothing more than a tune-up. Pac also had a tune-up against Fahsan so that already offsets Floyd's win against Chop Chop.
If you gave 2005 to Floyd, I wouldn't object although you have to consider that Pac was also in a FOTY against Morales even though he lost. But if you put more weight on Floyd's win against Gatti over Pac's loss in a FOTY against Morales then its reasonable as well.
Giving 2006 to Floyd is just ******ed since Pac was fighter of the year (BWAA and Ring) in 2006 with his two victories against Morales. Most boxing writers were already even considering in moving him up to P4P#1 status in that time due to Floyd's recent competition in 2005 and 2006, where people perceived that it was the time he started cherry picking his opponents.
2007 - this year definitely belongs to Floyd
2008/2009 - Floyd retired and inactive so you have to give that to Pac. It is also the year when Pac burst out in the mainstream, and his most profitable years.
Pac 6, Floyd 4
Pac was fighter of the year in 2006, 2008, 2009
Floyd was fighter of the year in 2002 and 2007.
How can you give only 3 years to Pac when he was already awarded fighter of the year 3 times, which meant he was the best in terms of competitions in those years. You have to add 2004 and 2003 because clearly Pac edged Floyd in those years.
If you gave 2005 to Floyd I wont mind. So at best Floyd can only get a draw against Pac if you want to break it down year per year.Comment

If I was Floyd I would:
1) Smash Manny's ass
2) Beat Martinez
3) Beat Williams if he's still standing (optional)
Then retire and when the BS writers try to give me an award I would tell them to f--k off and go give it to Manny. LMFAOComment

Floyd has the talent, he has great conditioning, I have nothing against him. I like the fact he is always in great shape, but we have to see the truth. You talk about the Castillo fight, he lost the first fight, the fact that he won decisively the second one doesn't erase the fact he got beat in the first. It happened, maybe Floyd had a bad night, maybe an injury as he claims, but he formally won the fight just because the judges gave it to him. Now let's talk about who he faced to win titles:Dude you need to brush up on your boxing history:
What happen when Leon Spinks beat Ali?
When Lloyd Honeyghan beat Donald Curry?
when Buster Douglas beat Tyson?
The same thing that happened when Baldomir beat Zab. They all became the linear champions.
Floyd a cherry picker? Go down the list of the champions Floyd fought and when he fought them and get back to me. Was Floyd fighting Shane at the right time before the fight or now that he has dominated him? You say Floyd loss the first Castillo fight but said nothing about the immediate rematch which counters any of the Castillo BS anyone can come with. Shane destroyed the man your claiming Floyd ducked then Floyd dominated Shane right after. Manny has been fighting a string of fighters coming off losses since he's been at 130 all the way to now. ALL CHERRYPICKED FIGHTERS.
Baldomir - you say he was the linear champion, did that make him a great fighter, a top welterweight, in the top 3 in the world? Baldomir had 5 loses and let's face it no skills. Floyd beat him, won the title but that doesn't make this a great achievement.
Gatti - nothing to say, old past his prime, been through wars
De la Hoya - was past his prime, not a dead man walking as when he fought Pacquiao but still past his best
He also beat Hatton who was a junior welterweight and Marquez a 36 years old lightweight. I read a comment which I thought was very good that stated he left the welterweight division and retired when the heat was on and came back just after the division cooled down and this is so true. Now talking about Mosley, Mosley surely wasn't the Mosley that fought Cotto, he was 3 years older, 39 years old and came to the fight after a layoff of 16 months. Floyd beat him, did a good job, but Mosley is a 39 years old guy, it's not like he fought a prime Mosley, the best Mosley or at least a past his prime Mosley but still a good fighter like he was when he fought Cotto.
That's the history. Sorry to say that, Floyd has great talent I even like seeing him fight, but after Castillo he never fought a guy of his size in his prime. The only fighter he fought after Castillo who was in his prime was Hatton but Hatton was a light welter.
He could of fought true challenges like Cotto in 2008, Paul Williams, Antonio Margacheato (not fighting him was a good idea). And please don't tell me that Manny is the same or stuff like that as a response.Last edited by Arthas; 06-01-2010, 09:15 AM.Comment

100% agree.You gotta be kidding:
Larios coming off a KO loss
Morales coming off a huge loss
Diaz coming off a KO loss
Oscar coming off a loss
Hatton coming off a KO loss
Cotto coming off a KO loss
and Clottey coming off a loss
Manny should be the "Coming off a loss fighter of the decade" cause aint no way a fighter with unresolved controversial fights and clear losses can be FOTD over a fighter that has dominated ALL his opponents and NEVER LOSS.They didnt give it to Calzaghe cause they knew they couldn't justify him over PBF even though this is still CLEARLY POLITICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have to be a gay ass "Asian Sensation" writer or a big time Pac salad tosser to think this guy deserves it.
Let me ask this..
Who did Pac break that was never broken?
Morales? No. Already lost to barrera and pretty much retired after the 3rd fight. Pretty much came in broken.
Barrera? No. Junior Jones and Kennedy McKinney did that.
Marquez? Please. More like Marquez broke Pac
Oscar? Nope. Hopkins did that.
Cotto? Nope Margarito did that.
Clottey? Who hasnt beat Clottey?
Larios? Vasquez beat him to it.
3K Battery? HAHAHAHA
Ledwaba? Old ass Ledwaba from the Michael Carbajal days? LOL
Hatton? Floyd did that too.
Seems like a bunch of filipinos finally got a fighter to get a belt and instead of having him keep it hostage in Asia they had him fight beaten fighters or old fighters. I dont see anyone on this here list that Pac has broken.
Any fighter worth his salt can say he did something no one else has. Donaire can at least say he broke Darchinyan. Marg can say he stopped Cotto. Oscar beat Quartey. Chavez beat Taylor. Whitaker beat Chavez. Pavlik beat Jermain. Quintana beat Williams. Barrera beat McKinney and Marquez beat Pac after 3 KDs. Whats that? Manny never came in against an undefeated fighter? Only fighters coming off losses?
Who has Pac broke? What has he done that deserves FOTD if he hasnt broke anyone? LOL... I guess he must have just broke all the *******s hearts.
All it takes is a few asians with some ******** money to make any one of their fighters Fighter of the Decade.Comment

This is not based on BS awards. The bottom line is Manny has losses and draws on his record while Floyd is still undefeated and has fought the toughest fights in every division he has been in. Why didn't Manny fight Zahir after Zahir soundly smashed Morales? Why not a much warranted 3rd Marquez fight? Why not Shane at 147 instead of Cotto? Beating Morales in their last fight is equivalent to beating Roy Jones now. Just a name and Manny has a bunch of name fighters on his record that he fought on their down slope.
