  • Taylor impressed me in post-fight interview

He really seemed to care about where he made mistakes and how he might improve. He seemed reluctant to admit that he'd dominated the fight. He talked about the preparation his team had made before the fight and how they shaped the uppercut strategy. And then he wished Jim Lampley well. All around, he presented himself as a classy, intelligent, hard-working young fighter.

Oh yes, he's definately one of the 'good guys' It's refreshing when a fighter gets up there and talks about the improvements he could make, etc...instead of how great he thinks he is...very nice!

Indeed, Taylor a nice "breathe of fresh air" in the current day of narcicism.

Did anyone else feel like they were about to just mute the TV completely due to the fact Lampley wasn't there? God my ears were bleeding listening to that old jackass.

Man, that was brutal. During the fight they just pretended that Lampley was still there, and didn't try to fill the dead air with any additional commentary. I don't blame Steward for this: Merchant was techincally the "play-by-play" guy.

The pre-fight stuff was awful with him at the helm.

Agreed...never thought I'd miss Lampley! I'm glad Manny was there atleast...add a little knowledge and authority..he too was too quiet.

Lampley does have his bad days but I think without him the HBO crew feels a bit empty. I actually think the team of Lampley, Merchant and Jones is a pretty good one much better than Showtime's crew.

Nice post. No one ever talks about this aspect of Taylor. All people try to do is find ways to talk **** about him. At least he knows he has things to work on and I respect that when a young fighter is critical of his performance and finds ways to improve himself. I hope he fights a top 5 contender next. Keep on truckin' Jermain!

Something about a problem with his hip replacement surgery. They said that he'd be back next week for the PPV fight.
