good for you if you hate him thats fine.just rememebr that de la hoya fought a old washed up drunk drug adict chavez and no 1 gives him full credit cuz we all know that chavez would of ****ed him up bad in his prime.i have never heard americans show so much respect to a mexican fighter liek they show to chavez. But his machismo attitude is what made some people dislike him maybe people who are ****sexual wont like him.EVEN LAMPLEY AND MERCHANT GIVE CHAVEZ CREDIT AS A A.T.G IN BOXING AND FOR THOSE 2 TO GIVE A FIGHTER THAT CRDIT IT IS TRUELY HARD
I HATE Julio Chavez

You're right that it's not his job to promote DLH, but he could of told the Mexican population that it was alright to root for Oscar, and that he was the better man on both of those nights. If he had done that, Oscar would of won a lot of Mexican fans over. I think that because although there are some Mexicans that do feel he is fake and would never like him, the majority hate Oscar because he destroyed their idol. Chavez giving Oscar some credit would of eased the pain and hatred. Instead he talked down on Oscar and made his people hate him even more. It doesn't take that much effort to do these things.lol wtf, it's not Chavez's responsibility to promote dlh to the mexican public. Not that he would have had much success even if he tried. NO American born fighter has ever been fully embraced as one of their own (just like many Americans always rooted against Chavez) and he certainly wasnt going to win them over by carrying on like he just conquered the world after beating a shell of Chavez, running against Tito and picking on a smaller pac then getting his ass handed to him.
Chavez will never win a personality contest but who cares, there are much bigger *******s and he's a great fighter nevertheless. there are plenty of boxers and athletes in general that dont take losses well, maybe that's what motivates them. hell even beloved pac still maintains he lost to morales due to having blood withdrawn.Last edited by Check; 05-31-2010, 06:43 PM.Comment

All of that is true but speaking personally oscar has always rubbed me the wrong way and i remember rooting against him; along with others before he fought Chavez. You're right that it's not his job to promote DLH, but he could of told the Mexican population that it was alright to root for Oscar, and that he was the better man on both of those nights. it really does have to do with the way he carries himself, plus Chavez not giving him any credit
now in regards to who was the better fighter prime for prime I would have to go with Chavez over oscar
Chavez was a skilled inside fighter a lot better at in fighting than oscar was at fighting at the distance and also Chavez was two handed fighter opposed to oscar who is a fighter that depends on his left hand.
To me their second fight lets me know that a older Chavez was able to get on the inside with oscar and mark him up than i know a younger Chavez would have done a lot better against oscar and wonComment

LOL I like how these Mexican-Americans and non-Mexicans judged on how the Mexican public should've supported ODLH but don't even know what the **** they're talking about
. JCC Career > ODLHs career. JCC prime > ODLH prime.
TS I used to think you were a real smart poster but this thread is so ****ing ignorant.
Chavez is an ATG boxer, Just because you ***** and moan about how he is outside the ring doesn't change **** he did inside. ****ing biased bull****. Name me at least another boxer that can get 130,000+ people to buy tickets to see them fight?

WTF?? That is something I have never understood from the Mexican people....why would you hate someone that represents all Latinos very well? Someone who is well-spoken, good looking and respectful? I mean WTF???Why?? It's like it's fused into their minds that Mexicans have to be uneducated arrogant and disrespectful badmouths....why is that cool over someone who is educated and carries himself with class? All of that is true but speaking personally oscar has always rubbed me the wrong way and i remember rooting against him; along with others before he fought Chavez.

That is why I am that kind of Latino, like De La Hoya. I would only hope that more Latinos were like that....it just speaks so much better of us.Comment

Chavez was ****in it out as a pro from 1980 until 2005. I have to respect that ****. He was fighting when my parents got married in 1981, whooped Mayweathers uncle when i was three years old, and was still beating guys when I walked across the stage at my high school graduation in 2005.
Some legendary ****, IMO.Comment

Im not saying that he is not latino enough or that he has to go to the extreme as you suggested and act arrogant and disrespectfulWTF?? even if he wasnt Mexican american isnt it clear that oscar always speaks like a politician. meaning the oscar on the mic is not the real oscar. he doesnt come off as being genuine.
i dont think oscar situation is exclusive to him because of his background and heritage but his situation can happen in any culture.
guy from a blue collar background rises to success but does not connect with people from his background well....
it will create resentment from that blue collar community no matter what ethnic community the person comes fromComment

I agree.I will never and I mean never, give Chavez any credit. I can't stand him as a person or as a fighter. I hated when he beat Taylor and it still pisses me off that he could stand in the ring and raise his fist, after the beating he took from Whittaker. He is disrespectful, dirty, and a quitter in the ring. I loved seeing him bleed and getting nailed left and right from De La Hoya. Mexican fans that support him are just nationalistic pricks. There is nothing great about being a punching bag and brawling. This guy had no respect for his opponents even when he got his ass beat and I refuse till my death to ever give this guy any respect. Straight up scum bag.
JCC was an unstoppable wrecking machine at his best. A great inside fighter with a beautifully subtle defence.
JCC - Taylor = greatest comeback ever.
Amazing heart, toughness and will to get the KO after taking a beating.
Thats what boxing is all about.Comment
