1) He has been overhyped, overprotected, and overpromoted. He already fought for a world title having accomplished zilch of any real value in the professional ranks, apart from being beaten senseless within a minute when he came up against a good, hungry fighter. People object to this relative nobody being on PPV, they feel they are being insulted.
2) People feel he has been unfairly favoured at times. His infamous fourteen-count knockdown at the hands of Willie Limond. The fact that the Barrera fight should have been stopped rounds earlier, and was only called off once a stoppage would mean a Khan victory.
3) Despite the hype, his limitations have been glaringly obvious for some time. The best trainer in the world has - finally! - managed to make him defend decently. But for a long time he was a boxer with a glass chin and a crap defence - being touted as a World Champion.
4) He is full of himself - and not in a cheeky humorous way, but in a deadpan unappealing way. Imagine, when trying to explain why people don't like you, pointing out that you've earned more in your first ten fights than they've earned in their whole lives. How endearing! He has indeed shown why people don't like him - but not in the way he thinks.
5) The racism bit is (for most people) a red herring. A lot of the same folk who can't stand Khan were fans of Naz, and are fans of David Haye. Note also that both of *these* fighters are/were likewise not shy of bigging themselves up in public. The difference? Naz was ****y, but fun. Haye is ****y, but humorous. Khan is ****y in a kind of ingrown, strangely humourless way. He is just not endearing, and so he doesn't get away with it. His overblown pronouncements are just a petulant irritation.
6) GBP will continue what Frank Warren started. Making easy money by matching him up with non punchers, smaller guys and old shot names. Welcome to the world of Amir Khan.
