The option isnt on here but in reality Lennox is a smart man and knew he was getting on a bit and past his prime, he knew he was finished.

At 39 you don't have to rematch somebody you beat.

Lewis felt it was time to retire as he no longer felt he could perform at his best.

Lewis went out on top, he gets alot of props from me.

Was it because Lennox Lewis' "mum" wouldn't let him? That's what Vitali thinks....

Did Lennox not feel confident he could win a rematch and decided to go out on top?

I guess either way it's safe to say Vitali retired the pugilist specialist.
We know what Lennox had to lose by fighting again:

            1. Risking health
            2. Risking legacy
            3. Risk being drawn into a potential 3rd fight

            3 big concerns.....

But I will ask you this, other than money, which he had plenty of after the Tyson bout, what did he have to gain?

At age 38 the risks clearly outweigh any reward that beating Vitali would bring. Vitali would be known as another Andrew Golota and the win would not be as special as it is now.

I remember reading where Golota never beat a top 10 contender in his career.

              Is this true?

Speaking on behalf of all the people on this forum who are native to the English language and still choose to rubbish Lewis' victory over Vitali, they must have a very poor grasp of their native tongue. Lewis retired as UNDISPUTED Heavyweight Champion of the World. UNDISPUTED folks. That means that he conquered everybody in unifying and holding onto his titles. Yet still, people dispute the manner of his achievement, despite the fact that he did actually rearrange the left hand side of Vitali's face in the process.

Listen everybody. UNDISPUTED means that there is no argument. Now please accept this or go back to school and study English Comprehension.

Lennox wasn't really prepared for this fight, mentally or physically.

Vitali was a last-minute replacement for Kirk Johnson. Nuff said.

If Lewis comes in shape, he wins easy.

Well its simple, he knew he would have lost if there was a rematch

When people say he has beat everyone he has fought and give respect to him cos of it I always bring up this and I will always question it

He won by TKO in like the 6th round, what's the point.
